Slightly worse players.

I do not agree with your view on Danny Imray, he has consistently shown that he can develop, step up, and is only 22. I concur though, JRS will not make it at the level we might have hoped for.
I actually think they both could/can. With JRS it just won’t be with us. Probably with both that is the case anyway.

Another management may have already integrated Jes at this point.

I think this is the part we get wrong and need to improve on. We should have replacement/s in the door, getting game time, before we sell. We all know Whalton is the next to go. He most certainly won't be here by summer 2027. His replacement should be here getting minutes so the transition is seamless. Then you can sell at the optimum time for the maximum fee. The same with Munoz.

The club must see that the squad have been thoroughly rinsed this year and close to breaking point. I am hoping that this window is to make sure we get to the end of the season in this division and then return to our usual transfer policy. And, I wonder if Freedman didn’t get on with Glasner over transfers and would return once Glasner leaves…..here’s hoping….
This is exactly right LW11

The old succession planning tactic.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment in practice it is very difficult.

1. We go out and buy a youngster with little track record but potential. It's a huge gamble which may fail e.g. Franca.

2. We go for an up and coming player with a bit of a track record e.g. Hayden at Boro. The problem is that several other clubs are after him and can offer him a guaranteed first team spot. We can only offer him a backup spot for now.

Indeed its not easy.

Its why we've ended up with Sosa. Mitchel is 26, never misses a game and is at least a 7/10 every week.

What excellent up and coming 21 year old is going to be happy spending prime development years sitting on the bench? And why would we spend 20m or so for it.

With the no 10's its slightly different, as there is a bit more in game rotation etc.

I dont really get the point of this thread. Weve bought Wharton, Esse, Canvot recently as players who may turn into world beaters. You cant allways garentee they will however.

But thats not to say we wont be dipping into the championship ect for younger players with potential again in the summer. Weve got JSL and Guessand now because obviously Glasner wanted proven quality to get us up the table and into the UCL Final.

Next season (Probably with a new manager unless OG does a U turn) Then we may have a player come in with huge potential.

Guehi and Eze haven't long left.... And its not like we allready have world beater waiting in the reserves. But they may do in a season or 2. These things may develop. The other way of looking at it is that those players Olise, Guehi, Eze are one off superstars and you have to appreciate them whilst they're here.
