Selhurst Host Chas and Dave?

Little Steven was a black guy with blond hair, which was a bit of a surprise in those days! He was not very well received because of his singing rather than his colour and spent most of the act dodging 3 litre bottles of cider that had been refilled by the audience before lobbing them onto the stage.
Little Steven is actually Steven Van Zandt, of Bruce Springsteen's lead guitarist and Sopranos fame.

This gives a list of a number of concerts at Selhurst Park

It includes the Status Quo and Chas and Dave concerts mentioned, plus others I’d never heard of, like Peter Gabriel and The Undertones.

Setlist only reports concerts that website users report, so the list may not be comprehensive.

It’s very useful at settling arguments about who played what, where, and when, and at wasting your time (in a good way)!

Depending on how old you are I think you are getting confused with the Status Quo "End of the Road Tour" in 1984. Status Quo played at Selhurst Park on the 14 July 1984 and were supported by a motley assortment of Chas & Dave, Dave Edmonds, Grand Slam, and Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul.

I was there to see Quo but do not remember the others very much as you could buy as much beer as you could carry in Sainsbury's and it became a massive p1ss up.

By the time Status Quo came on they had to wash down the stage.

There is a great article on the CPFC website at The Weird & Wonderful of Selhurst: Status Quo & bicycle polo - News - Crystal Palace F.C. with one amazing photo that shows how trashed the ground was. View attachment 1453

The record of the gig shows Chas & Dave only played three songs:
  1. Ain't No Pleasing You
  2. Gertcha
  3. The Bollocks Song
i remember Quo playing - i think it was meant to be their last ever gig, although they have subsequently used that marketing ploy a number of times!

There was also a big reggae gig either the season before or after.

Both concerts absolutely ruined the pitch.

Chas Hodges was born in North London but lived somewhere in Kent I think.
He used to be in Head Hands and Feet, along with Albert Lee.
Heads, Hands and Feet were a really good band. Well worth a listen like most stuff with Albert Lee.
Francis Rossi lived in Mayow Road in Sydenham and went to St. Philip's primary school and then, I think, Sedgehill.

Albert Lee is an elite guitarist.

He really is. Eric Clapton makes him no. 1 which is a hard call to make but he's certainly up with the best but
the choice is so subjective - Tommy Emmanuel, Roy Clark, Chet Atkins how do you decide?
A personal favourite is Mike Dawes solo version of Van Halen's Jump which is an astonishing display of virtuosity.

Francis Rossi in 1976 lived on Lowther Hill between Brockley Rise and Blythe Hill fields in a big detached house, I know this because we knocked on his door and he happily signed our album covers. He was often around Brockley Rise and bought his cigs in the newsagent next to the Chandos

Not when he was going to primary school.
