Sean Scannell interview

The attached interview with ex-Palace favourite Sean Scannell appeared in an edition of the Grimsby Telegraph last week.
I well recall his efforts in helping us to survive relegation from the Championship - especially in that momentous match at Sheff Wed.

My memory of Scannell was watching a league cup game with my Dad and saying "how on earth is Zaha starting ahead of Scannell?"

This is why I'm not a talent scout.

My abiding memory was of a home match that he started and he had the ball and had just passed it and some guy in the crowd shouted, 'we love you sean' really loud.....I could see that Scannell heard it and had an uncomfortable look on his face for a couple of seconds.

Never quite fulfilled the potential we and others had for him but seems to have had a good career compared to most.

An unpleasant experience. The Shots ground hadn't changed since they went bust, and was already s*** then. I recall the bogs were a breezeblock room with a gutter, made the Arthur Wait look palacial.
