He disappeared from our screens while we were enjoying colour TV's the size of a suitcase. I don't remember a fanfare when he retired (maybe because of lack of scandal), but seemed an amiable enough bloke.
He wasn't on flatscreen TV, so he seems to have had a long and enjoyable retirement.
