I received a text and concluded that it was 'Fake news' with someone having a jolly josh.

I now realise my reliable source was correct and I concluded, incorrectly, that it was 'Fake News' as part of raillery.
I did not respond to him, disparaging his message, had I done so I would have needed to resort to 'Sackcloth and ashes'.

Good luck to Roy but it does seem a strange one.
With 7 games to go, they are 12 points off both the playoff and relegation places. I guess they just want him to see the season out and any improvement would be a bonus.

Last season, Bristol City under Liam Manning finished 6th and competed in the play-offs where they were defeated by Sheff Utd in the semi-final.
Gerhard Struber was appointed manager before the start of the season, he departs with them in 16th place and they were recently beaten in the FA Cup by Port Vale.
I will add that long-standing centre-back Zak Vyner and top scorer Anis Mehmeti were sold in January to Wrexham and Ipswich, respectively, while Struber also lost three first-choice defenders to injury in Rob Dickie, Rob Atkinson and George Tanner.

Appointing a 78 year old Roy as manager is brave, desperate and quire frankly bonkers, and in all seriousness dangerous from various angles including the wisdom for Roy to take this on at his age, and that isn't being ageist!

It is only an Interim appointment.
Bristol City Chief Exec Charlie Boss said "“Roy’s appointment is about more than the results of the next seven games. Over the remainder of the season, he will help us set the standards and values at the club that we will need to be successful going forwards".
