Rod Liddle

I was shocked to learn late last night that he had died after a short illness aged just 66.

Liddle was a fine journalist with an acerbic wit who was not afraid to express his views even if they contradicted establishment thinking. His column in The Sunday Times was always the first I turned to and even his obituary in today's paper made me chuckle.

He was born in Sidcup, but lived in Yorkshire as a diehard Millwall supporter and he clearly enjoyed that notoriety. RIP funny man.
