Relegation battle 25-26

Apropos League placement it has been a decline over the last few seasons :

2021-22 : 10th
2022-23 : 13th
2023-24 : 14th
2024-25 : 16th

During this period the players they have sold include Gibbs-White, Ait-Nouri, Kilman, Neto, Neves,Cunha etc etc
And Matt Hobbs became DOF there in late 2022.

I reckon Wolves will do the Spammers today and get their first win. They played well at Utd the other day and West Ham are shite.

This is interesting (copy and paste) and a useful summary from the BBC with regard to the likelihood of the bottom three changing:

Bottom three will make history if they survive relegation

If any of the current bottom three of West Ham United, Burnley or Wolves manage to stay up this season, they will make history.

All three are currently cut adrift from safety and will require record-breaking ends to their respective campaigns if they are to retain their Premier League status.

The closest to safety at the moment are West Ham who are seven points behind Nottingham Forest in 17th - but even they will need to find something that has never before been achieved.

According to Opta, before the 2025-26 season, 18 teams have been 7+ points from safety after 21 games played in the Premier League. None have survived.

And, before this season, there were 27 instances of a team having 14 (or fewer) points after 21 games of a Premier League campaign.

25 were relegated.

Wow - that certainly puts it into perspective.

We are now on the outer fringes of the relegation places and need improved results as to not get sucked into the quagmire. In all honesty it is becoming a concern.

It's concerning that we are not even nicking the odd win. It's even more concerning that we are not scoring goals. Even more concerning than that, we don't even look like scoring goals.

Summing up our joint concerns i think we both agree the situation is one of growing concern.

After today's heroic display i am even more worried. Is Spindle laughing now, we are in such a poor state that we would lose to Millwall Ladies second team.

Surely we get 3 league wins from somewhere till the end of the season?
Not unless we change something. Whether that be players coming back, a different system, or if things carry on then a new person in charge. I’ve seen nothing from the current group of players or the manager to suggest they can get us out of our current form. Maybe the players to come back can do this.

I confess I had a fiver at 150/1 odds against us being relegated on Paddy Power a couple of weeks ago.
We are still 100/1.
But then, so was Foinavon back in 1967...

This for sure.
