They've woken up to that and current prices demanded (think El Khanouss and Jobe Bellingham etc.) make Nelson's £15m look a bargain (if it weren't for his injury record)..

There are still decent players to be had at fair prices if you can identify the players you want and get the deal done early in the window .The silly money only starts when the shortage of players available makes those left on the shelf in higher demand .

We were always going to be in the market for a centre back this summer so why didn't we at least make enquiries for Heggem at WBA . 26 years old Norway international , club player of the year and snapped up by Bologna for under £10 million .
Or how about Rav van den Berg 21 year old who has represented Holland at every age group since 15 . Over 61 appearances for Middlesbrough in the Championship .
Sold to Cologne for £11 million .

The players were there we just didn't act quick enough
