Reform

It is the reason. But they’re in cuckoo land thinking they have the solutions.
So what is the solution? The other parties have and are failing in the eyes of the electorate. I can't think of another newly elected party that has become so unpopular so quickly. 14 years of opposition you would have thought they would have a plan. Wonder how bad it would have been if all the local elections had taken place.

That's a good point. if Labour had not manipulated the system to mitigate the damage........

If I'd asked, I'd have probably found she came from England. You're missing the point. What entitlement should anyone have to totally free stuff other than the bare minimum? Why is no one refused? No one is deported - even with crimes. Barely anyone comes from anywhere anything is really happening. Not similar to the UK because you say so? I think people will see the obvious parallels. Perhaps that was my point?
I rather think it’s you missing the point.

It’s to be found in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 1951 Refugee Convention. The UK, as a signatory to the Refugee Convention, has a legal framework to assess asylum claims, and individuals seeking asylum have certain rights.

53% of claims in 2024 in the UK were refused. Appeals take time. 2647 refused applicants were deported.

Those that are accepted gain the right to stay, claim benefits, work and study and eventually become citizens.

Would you have us withdraw from the Conventions? All members of the UN have signed the Declaration of Human Rights and all but 44 the Refugee Convention, including every developed country. We would be in dubious territory if we withdrew!

There are deportations from Ireland but not many.

The problem though is that he is simply wrong.

We are now a country with a majority of non believers. They might treasure the heritage, culture and values that Christianity has bestowed but neither believe the faith nor attend church. Don’t get misled by census reports in which true beliefs are not recorded.

You don’t need to go to church to have faith. Although it would be safer as the police stop you praying in the street in some cases!
I personally believe in reincarnation as there can only be so many souls in the universe. ( probably a bit deep for me 😀)

If they did yes, but will they?

You have only to read these pages, or listen to the truly convinced elsewhere, to know that isn’t yet a settled argument. One thought that’s going to be interesting to witness.
Would they be taking a pragmatic approach by buying cattle prods from Temu instead of America? We're almost in the realms of the hypothetical here.

Of course you don’t but it would seem to be unusual. No doubt though such people are identified in polling.

The older I get the more I would like to believe but the more I know the less I do.

Many years ago I had reason to research the historical timelines for many of the stories told by the disciples and how, why and when they were included in the Bible. Alongside those stories that were excluded. Suffice to say there was a lot of politics involved and very little truth.

By the way no policeman stops anyone praying in the street! They stop people who contravene exclusion orders and ask them to go elsewhere.

I was on about the black dude reciting the bible at speakers corner.

Oh look...... a report on the falling number of Christians produced by The Humanist society. So, no bias there, then......
