Reform

If they can be housed in Crowborough, which has nothing much, then they can be housed anywhere.
Using old army type barracks is fine but they should be detained, not allowed to roam. Perhaps this would be a deterrent 🤔 how simple it is. Local news stories where females have stopped walking in local fields/woodlands as they have been followed ( video evidence seen)

I used to live there way, way back. My cousin lives there still. I know it well.

I notice that today’s attempt by Reform to divert attention from the accusations of sleaze has spectacularly misfired, again. Yet it gets no attention here!

Suggesting that the Royal Navy can intercept boatloads of illegal immigrants and then dump them in France, without French approval, is just populist fodder for the intellectually dumb.

It’s rightly been rubbished by all. Except the intellectually dumb.

All this shows is desperation and malignant incompetence.

I tend to agree that it's a non starter. I would say the solution arises out of what happens when they get here. Arrested and sent straight back with nothing and it will stop. Certainly should not be paying France any money for anything. They're not policing it. They're encouraging it to get rid of people they also don't want.

There is absolutely no chance the Royal Navy will forcibly send back migrants; and even less chance the Royal Marines will forcibly place migrants on a French beach with French marines resisting with equal force. It is an even worse idea than Rwanda, and that was a low bar.

If Farage discussed this with the military before he blurted this risible crap out, they would have made the position very clear.

And Farage knows it. It is a political play to divert attention from their other numerous blunders and seek to resurrect their flagging fortunes.

If these are the sort of f**k-ups Reform are committing so far from government, Lord protect us if they ever got the keys.

Why oh why is there no-one we can safely vote for?

Wouldn't you?

I'd like to believe that the French would be more cooperative if we were still in the EU, but there is enough narrative-fitting on this site and I would not wish to add to that.

If it was that simple then it would have been done years ago. That it isn’t done suggests it cannot be done, without creating even worse outcomes.

Whilst the crossings have increased since Brexit, believe me the French ( and others) were extremely uncooperative when we were in the EU.

It doesn't suggest anything except the will is not there to do it. It is exactly that simple. There are plenty of very simple solutions to things our governments don't do.
Giving nothing at all to illegal immigrants is one. The outcome is chosen by the individual here. It is the very epitome of not our problem.

I think you are correct. As I have said many times on here, we must remove any incentives. Detain with no freedom to roam. I know Silvertop and others were totally against Rwanda scheme but imo it would have worked but we will never know, unfortunately. The idea of the Navy sending them back is never going to happen but, as the French are doing basically nothing to stop the crossings, perhaps withdrawing our funding should now be considered.

Obviously so.

Likewise, Rwanda was some pie in the sky concept some numpty voiced around a think tank and then somebody higher up unwisely blurted it out. The level of competence one expects from that sh1t show of a government. However, it then caused a whole cabinet to double down behind it until they inevitably got voted out.

Everybody knew it was an unworkable shambles of a concept that would have this country paying big with next to no impact on illegal immigration.

Attack the criminal facilitators and the black economy that attracts them. They are, at least, policies we have some control over.

Of course but we can’t, can we! I’m sure the French residents do not want 1000s hanging around their area, perhaps the French should grow some and round them up and detain in proper camps. When Sangatte closed and we agreed to take many of the “residents” it was agreed by the French that no similar encampments would be allowed 🤔 we were in the EU then but they did nothing to stop another one appearing.
Having worked at Sangatte processing many, believe me you really wouldn’t want them living near you. The abuse we got was off the scale, perhaps it was just their way of showing thanks 😏

That won't work. There'll always be another people smuggler. Need to remove the attraction of coming to Europe. Get nothing and nobody will come.

I don’t agree but that’s what discussion is all about
Agree with your last paragraph, unfortunately no political will to clamp down on the black economy or deal with those employing or working illegally. Like the drug gangs, you stop one smuggling gang and others spring up
