Reform

I would. And I'd be appalled. There may be an extra charge levied to contribute towards the wasted cost of the by-election, but it would be an affront to our constitution to deny the electorate a candidate based on some technical whim.
Reform have offered to pay for the by-election, keep up

Cost around £250K

A day in, and I'm kinda with the 'other' parties on this, it's a farce of a by-Election and waste of Tax payers coffers. The other parties have the right not to Stand, as they did when David Davis did the same in 2008.

I get what Farage was going for - and makes some kind of sense, but all it is is a gamble so he can play the "I'm backed by the people" card against the standards committee, but he should have known his history and seen that the other parties may not stand. His only other option was to face these Charges without that backing.

I wouldn't be surprised if a law is passed stating that if you resign from office to force a by-election you can't then restand in that election - (edit-) for the same party.

I'm in the Reform camp, but think that even though this sounded like the right shout on paper, it hasn't taken much prodding to show it for what it is.
If the other parties stand, he will win. If they don't, he will win.

This is about stealing the headlines away from those who wish to get him out of politics.

If only some of the seeming thick people who comment on this realised that this is about democracy. It is about standing up against the power of the establishment, who don't care a toss about the people of Britain as long as they are preserving their status.

Farage is the sodding establishment!

That's what I don't get.. how is having another by-election "Standing up to the power of the establishment"? just the fact that the public is willing to vote for him & Reform despite of all his accusations?

What surprises me more is that he knew the rules and he knows that everyone of the other parties are going to be hunting for something contraversial to get him out the way, so he really needs to be extra squeaky clean. He's explained the £5m for me adequately - but the second lot of charges seem totally avoidable, if true. Just things not declared - he didn't think he needed to declare them.
I agree he's being targeted by those wanting him out the way, but he appears to be making himself an easy target.

Sure. That's why he engineered Brexit.

Is Elon Musk establishment? What about Trump?

These people are the enemy of my enemy. Our enemy.

Answer me this.

How can you break a Parliamentary rule when you haven't decided to run for Parliament?
This is a stitch up plain and simple. That is obvious.

They are all trying to ruin Farage's reputation because they know he will put them out of a job come 2029. And it runs deeper than that. The elite globalist agenda is at risk.

He's (was and will be again) an MP.. that's a Member of Parliament ? , so subject to their rules.

"They" are just doing what any opposition party does when not in power/threatened. Postulating and taking to their high horse before judging. The media then sense outrage and you're done. I don't particularly like it. But there are rules and IF he has broken them there should be consequences. Same thing has happened to many others across all parties in the history of politics. It's a sh1tty system where the media have way too much say in. If that's the 'Establishment' he seeks to challenge, I applaud it, but I still don't really see how calling a byelection acheives that.

It’s just a cult at this point - Farage has taken swathes of the Trump playbook and it’s been hugely effective - everything is a fix, a stitch up, not fair.

Any criticism, no matter how reasonable or consistent, can be dismissed and ignored if you permanently present yourself as the victim of some ‘establishment’ attack.

It’s the most transparent crock of s***, but it seems to convince many.

Were these same people making this fuss when the Makerfield by-election was called with the Labour MP stepping down....for the sole purpose of giving Burham the chance for a seat so that he can become Labour leader?

I suspect the vast majority of them didn't even think about it.

But when it's Farage they just echo whatever lefty talking point they hear.

To be fair, I did not hear a voice (other than Burnham toadies sucking up for a position) who expressed any but a cynical view on Makerfield.

And I listen to the BBC.

Is paying or covering the cost of a by-election even allowed?

I doubt it was anything like the invective that Farage is receiving.

I'm not referring to you but the usual hate brigade is out.
