Reform

I wasn't aware of any video.

It was literally a page back but here I'll link you directly:

I have read their immigration policy. It didn't make any sense; to me at least.

For instance it said anyone who is a foreign national and is in social housing, can't speak English, wont work, won't integrate - will be deported.

Now I'm all for deporting unsavoury foreigners who break the law and are here illegally. However when he was stating the criteria for deportations I was confused.

Does he mean any of those points constitute being deported, or all of them.

What are the parameters for integration? This is very broad for me.

Obviously some of those metrics are subjective and require time and money to find out (not happening) and others can be measured easily. But come on....you only have to think about it.

Examples of what can be measured easily and wouldn't require much work finding out:

Foreign national. Easy to find out.
Married to national. Easy to find out.
Social housing or not social housing. Easy to find out.
Employed and what kind of job. Easy to find out.

They aren't going to deal with the waffle of 'how integrated' someone is or spend the money finding out who can speak English properly....Too much money, too much resistance in the system, takes too long.

A foreign national could be working, speak English and be fully "intergrated" but live in social housing. Does that mean he's gone too.

Unlikely....How long they get to stay would be subject to what claim they have in being here.

What the feck are all these foreigners doing here?

Like I said, I'd be more likely to vote restore if I understood what they were promising.

Maybe be I'm thick, but I just don't get ot.

Maybe you're bright and I'm thick.....who cares.....We just do what we can and get on with it.

I watched the video and agreed with everything he said.

However it had nothing to do with my confusion with regards to the policy document.

You say some of its subjective, that's not good enough for me, personally.

If they are as truthful as Lowe points out, he will be able to make his views perfectly understandable.

You may get it, good luck to you. I'm still struggling

That's cool.

As Robert Shaw says in Jaws, 'nothing's easy is it'.

People can support Reform as their first choice, sure.

But do it with your eyes open at least. Don't say that later you didn't understand what Reform is.

Which is basically socially liberal but pro Brexit Tories 2.0.

Nothing will really change with Reform.....quite amusing considering the name.

This all matters not as by some way or other the left will do to reform what they did in Germany to the afd.
The AFD did as most populist parties do and that is implode. Not much help from the left needed.

Reform have demonstrated similar tendencies. Restore? Were they set up by the Left?

Also, you overstate the power of the Left. The power is with Finance. If Finance like/tolerate Reform and see them as steady and moderately capable hands (i.e. when it comes to the economy they do as they're told), they will back them until they are otherwise.

Thus, the City was Remain as that is where the better money is. However, they backed the Tories after they magically morphed from Remain to Leave in one of the greatest illusions in political history (how they got away with that I will never know - put forgetful powder in the tea?). The City can't change the result but they can change their investment patterns.

So, they stuck with Johnson, even when he was a patent disaster, as he was a predictable disaster. However, they would not sit with Truss as the least fiscally competent and, more importantly, unpredictable, leader in the history of the Universe (funny how that forgetful powder erased the Brexit pinup from the memory of Brexiteers). They ousted her and replaced her with a steady hand.

They will do the same with Reform if they go all Truss. Farage knows that. It is the one saving grace for them getting in to power. The economy is likely to bumble along more or less as is without any major shocks. Those hoping for a populist revolt against "elites", "globalism" et al will be disappointed.
If Reform decide to diverge from reality, as Truss did, they will be out. Their support will blame the Left, the liberal, centrist elites and others who likely didn't like Reform but did not bring them down.

AfD polling at 29% the other day

What did they do. Mentioned immigration a bit too much. Yup today that is implosion I guess !!!

Are you completely ignoring the polls of less than a fortnight ago?
Are you completely ignoring what I am saying?

I do not question their popularity or the rise of populist nationalism across Europe.

I am saying these parties have a tendency to eat themselves with little help from outside.

Thus, the existence of Restore.

You used past tense, so absolutely not.

If you didn't know 29% in the poll a couple of weekends ago was more than any other party in Germany
I read that but they will still find a reason to stop them getting in to power. The west can’t handle the right as it will be skittle time for all the woke alphabet immigrant line the pocket socialist s*** that’s going on. As least capitalism gives you a chance to trouser some ill gotten gains and keep it.

Classic populist offering. Uncosted, unworkable but sufficiently shiny to attract their naive base.
'Populist'.

Some people never get bored with being knobs do they.

There will be a predictable list of attacks that the left and the media will use against Refom. Even the Restore lot are at it.

I might start a thread.
