Reform

Jacob is an erudite gentleman of articulacy and personal charm.
An estimable, perspicacious and urbane gentleman and the very portrait of suave aplomb.
I have met him a couple of times, always makes sure everyone in the company is included and made welcome.

I have to say I was not so keen on Norman St John Stevas who was very odd when off camera

Mogg missed his vocation. He would make the perfect doorman at Claridges. Opening taxi doors to the stupidly rich for huge tips, passing on tittle tattle and investment advice whilst wearing a top hat and behaving if it was still Edwardian London.
He is generally known as the M.P. for the nineteenth century. If ever there was someone born in the wrong era its him.

We could do with more of his kind in this world.
Charming, exceedingly polite, suave, sophisticated, a mensch, bastion of good sense and dressed to the nines. He is certainly a gentleman of distinguished couture.

I would agree with some of that,I don't dislike him just some of his remarks. Most people see him as being from a bygone era. I think a few things you mention are just a veneer.

With respect a generalisation, however I readily admit there are those who view me in such a light.
I have had a jolly good chinwag with Jacob on multiple occasions and he is engaging company.
It is an 'Echo chamber' when we engage in conversation.

He was being sarcastic, if not it's as misplaced a statement as one could ever make. Suggesting that Thatcher cared about coal miners would be more accurate.

And someone who bet against Britain on the stock markets for personal financial gain

The Reform plan to save £234bn from migrant benefit cuts is disintegrating.
I am not surprised one iota.
It's funny because the current government bandied around figures that were made up, but got into power because the Tories were so unpopular after 14 years.

Reform are popular not because of the accuracy of their figures, but because they are the only party currently trusted to end mass immigration.

Statistics can be presented in many ways to create an impression, as you well know. Those who oppose Farage will attempt to malign him, but they have the mood of the people to contend with.

That mood is one of people who, when going outside their door or watching TV, don't recognise their own country any more.

The Tories, Labour, Liberals, Greens and 90% of the news media will attempt to mock and misrepresent Farage, but the failure of previous administrations to act on the will of the people and the resulting effect of mass migration is now glaringly obvious, however much they try to hide it.

I heard him interviewed on migrants.

He said that he supports control "of course". However, he is torn. The people on those boats who are widely despised, have walked and thumbed thousands of miles. Through enterprise they have somehow raised and paid £thousands to complete the journey.

If you were an employer hiring for bottom level jobs who would you employ? Them, or some local lad who can barely get out of bed in the morning. We need them, albeit in controlled numbers.

He said that.

And that completely ignores the effect that mass migration, including illegals, is having on our culture and communities.

No one in politics is going to say that we just want Britain to be more 'British', but that is the truth for many. The change to this country in my lifetime has been staggering.
The many new issues that we now have to deal have been normalised by the media.
We can talk about jobs, benefits, services and crime all day, but the bottom line is that our very existence as a recognisable people and culture is at stake.

WHAT !!!!

Somerset Capital Management was a buy-and-hold investment management company.
It did not engage in clearing, and clearing and trading are different identities.
The company was a specialist in emerging markets.
In the final analysis Jacob is an erudite gentleman of unimpeachable integrity.

I have nothing more to add with regard to JRM whom I hold in the highest esteem.
The subject of this thread is REFORM and perhaps contributions need to return to the political party.

You should watch out for pensioner fraudsters then because you seem a bit gullible.

His fund made big gains by Sterling collapsing in 2016 from Brexit, which he knew would happen. He never invested in Britain, he invested abroad.

I have been accused of many failings but 'Gullible' has never been included in the list.
Funds invest in the interests of their plethora of investors.
I have nothing further to add, besides such conversations are 'Off Piste' when the subject is REFORM.
Thank you.

Reform are of course fashionable at the present time for reasons I have already documented on HOL.
I am reminded of the saying of Lord Salisbury :
"English popularity, like an English summer, consists of two fine days and a thunderstorm.".

Reform are currently struggling for traction, they cannot blind the electorate any longer to the fact that they only have one policy a jingoistic approach to immigration, they strirred up the trouble at The Battle of the Bell Hotel,Epping, a costly unedifying affair. Yesterday they mentioned massive cuts to welfare (the State Pension is the largest expediture) without explaining much further.

Very amusing.

Unfortunately, the impact of mass migration on our major cities is not temporary.

We can thank Mr Blair and the last Tory government for a good part of that.

Hopefully, the people will not suffer temporary memory loss at the next election and forget who was to blame.

Yes, if only the two schoolgirls and the woman had just accepted their fate and kept quiet when our uninvited guest interacted with them. If only the groomed girls in northern towns had kept quiet for the sake of diversity…
There would be little need for mass protests if a crime had not been committed in the first place.
