Referee today.

Refs get a lot of stick but Peter Bankes’ performance today was the best I’ve seen at Palace for many a year. Let enough go to let the game flow, fair to both sides and not intimidated by the players antics. He played his part in what was a smashing game. Well done Peter!
I thought he was outstanding, he let the play go on, wasn't conned by the diving and falling over by both teams, they should use the recording of the game to show other refs that is how you ref a game.

After being criticised and stood down for his failure to understand the handball rule in ManC v Wolves and Palace v Chelsea there was no way Darren England was going ask Banks review the goal. If the rule is correctly applied there was no handball offence as Lerma was too near Khalaili whose arm was in a natural position.

Now as for all the fouls on Larsen and the chopping down two Palace players in the area….

Isn't the law now that if it's hits your arm as the scorer (so last touch) it's disallowed regardless of position/deliberate etc?

Regardless the reason Khalaili was only in that leaning back position because he was being fouled. A Forest guy had a massive tug of his shirt which dragged him backwards as he jumped. Nobody has mentioned this.

Surely if they deemed he had made contact then they should have gone further back and given us a penalty.

I thought penalty area fouls/tactics were being reduced this season after success at the WC. Yesterday's game was a free for all - from both sides to be fair.

Thankfully VAR did it's job - it wasn't clear and obvious so give the goal and move on.

I know a Forest fan who was in the away end. He reckons the ref was very biased in Palace's favour. Particularly in the last 20 mins when they were trying to get it back to 3-2 to mount a grandstand finish.
He reckons everyone around him felt the same.
You will never please everyone. Personally, I thought he let a bit too much go. At one point I thought he'd forgotten his whistle!
