Rating the window so far

Defence definitely a problem having lost Lacroix and with just Wharton and Kamada without adequate back up in midfield worries me. Hughes still okay to bring on hopefully? New signings great but so unknown as to how good they will be. And it may be late into the season before we know? Plus of course a new manager who has now realised we aren’t up to playing how he wants us to and it’s taken to the last thrashing in a friendly for him to say he will revert back to the Glasner way of playing. We are so not ready yet :-(
What are you talking about him saying he will revert? He never said anything like that. They both play the same shape and a pretty similar system.

Not seen so many pundits choose us to go down for many seasons. All four at the 'i' have us for the drop, But, there has only been one team in Premier League history who has had a longer consecutive sequence in the division and gone down
A few of 'em had us to go down in the FA Cup season. Of course they were proven to be completely clueless that year.

There is always at least one pundit tipping us for the drop, and we've proven 'em wrong in thirteen consecutive seasons so far.

For me it’s another summer transfer window where the starting 11 hasn’t been improved from the previous year can’t remember the last summer window where we improved the first 11 but at least we have a better squad

I'm overjoyed with our transfer window so far, and really excited for the season ahead. I really can't remember a window in the Premier League era where we have been so proactive as a club and early on too.

The closest second to it would be the first Vieira window, but that was a full rebuild necessitated by huge outgoings, so not the same.

I'm sad and disappointed to lose Lacroix, but it's not a huge surprise and it is something we have to deal with.

With Tomiyasu and possibly Disasi coming in we have hopefully filled that gap... and I expect Riad and Jaydee to continue to step up their levels as they have been doing steadily post-Guéhi.

Really looking forward to see how Mingueza, Tomiyasu, and McNeil get on in particular, I was impressed with Tomi's trial cameo and as long as he can keep fit I expect him to be a great addition. Guessand back in on loan again is fantastic news and we know his quality well already.

9.5/10 from me at this stage. A centre-mid reinforcement would complete the 10/10.

Can't wait for tomorrow!

I Think the squad is better, and we're building depth. Our policy is buying youth, so those saying that out first 11 is not better may not be taking into account that we're looking for players like Canvot, Pino even JSL and Franca to show more than they did last year.

IMO we've bought well, and those who have come in have the potential to come in and challenge for places. Khalali and McNeil allow us to play with more width in higher areas, and with the retention of Guessand (and Gozo, though this is a sink or swim signing imho) have options from the bench. Tomiyasu, Mingueza and Disasi give more cover and flexibility in defence, and Hopefully we get this kid Danois which will mean actually we're in pretty good shape. We can't obviously expect All of these to be rip roaring successes, but it's a good balance of talented potential and PL Experience.

Still worried a little about our goal scoring ability, especially if Sarr is poached. Mateta may well still leave, (I struggle to accept that we'll let both Sarr and Mateta go, mind). so that's an area we could still do some work on.. but every club says that.

over all, very positive based on where we were in May. 8/10.

I think we have improved the squad depth massively and actually have decent competition in most positions with at least decent back up.

The young CM from Auxerre (Kevin Danios) could be interesting and the final addition needed.

I don't understand those saying the current first team isn't great. At the moment, it's mostly the same team as last year and losing Ebs and Guehi was always going to happen after the FA Cup win. Lacroix is a surprise as I thought we'd have him for another season. I actually think the World Cup call up has done us there.

The question is really the Guehi replacement, which we were never going to fill straight away as he was world class. Riad was meant to be that replacement before he got injured so let's wait and see if he can stay fit. Not going to be at the same level as Guehi (who is a top 4 player), but adequate replacement given our level in the league.

One of the dichotomies of football - we buy young players hoping they'll be great while Chelsea sell them hoping they won't. The obvious conclusion is that both decisions are at best educated guesses.
