I would love that to be right and I hope I’m wrong, but I just can’t see that at all, we might have a bigger squad to cope with Thursday football and the away trips this season, but I don’t think we’ll have the quality needed. We could definitely do with certain players who shall remain nameless shaping up in that competition that’s for sure

Why would we have a better chance in the League Cup then, which was your statement. There are stronger teams in that, than in the Europa.
With a better defensive record we concede less goals and hence would have a better goal difference.
You are not the arbiter of my take on what constitutes a poor defensive record even of it doesn't tie in with your or others' definition of what a poor defensive record means.
We've looked very open this calendar year and will continue to struggle for results if our defensive play does not improve.

Why try in the FA Cup which also includes these better Premier League teams if that's the attitude?
We memorably beat Villa and Man City to win the FA Cup and there's no reason why we shouldn't beat similar teams if we meet them in the League Cup.
Pleasingly from what he said,and unlike some one here , Sage has indicated that he will give the League Cup a go and not sacrifice it as an unimportant inconvenience.
Success in Cup competitions usually involves decent draws, a certain amount of luck and good form at the right times.

It would be far better for Palace to bomb out of all the cup competitions and concentrate on staying in the Prem.

Strange last year people was saying only go lge and Europe , because our squad isnt big enough , this year people are still saying the same with a bigger squad , at what point will people say lets win it all ,

Given our massive squad size, I'd hope we have a half decent go at trying to win the cup. Appreciate it's likely to be bottom of the priority list, but these game provide opportunity to keep fringe players sharps and an opportunity to impress. I'd go for a few changes but would keep the back three together as they we a shambles at Fulham. They need game time to gel.
