What looks like the final game of preseason has now been announced.

SC Freiburg away in August. Finished 7th in the Bundesliga in the season gone, and of course reached the Europa League final where Villa done them 3-0. They are in the Conference League this time round, and will be one of the highest rated in the comp.

19th July: World Cup Final, last possible international involvement of various squad members.
25th July, 3pm: Bromley FC, Hayes Lane.
28th July - 1st Aug: Como Cup, Lake Como.
15th August, 1pm uk time: SC Freiburg, Europa-Park Stadion.
22nd August: First game of the season, away to Everton.

That's a big gap between the 1st August & the 15th, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there is another game slotted in somewhere around the 7th / 8th August - (Maybe even a behind closed doors affair)

Whatever they might say, I doubt it’ll be the first team at Bromley, it never is, especially 3 days before they’re off to Italy and some getting extra time because of the World Cup

the Como cup is a mini tournament so we will play 3 games over a few days, however, i do agree a behind closed door game might be slotted in

Pre-season fixtures now complete with an early game against Swindon Town.

So dates look like this:

2026/27 Pre-season schedule

  • Saturday, 18th July: Palace v Swindon (12:30 BST)
  • Saturday, 25th July: Bromley v Palace (15:00 BST)
  • Tuesday, 28th July – Saturday, 1 August: Como Cup:
    • Tuesday, 28th July: Palace v RC Lens (18:00 BST) – 45-minute match
    • Tuesday, 28th July: Palace v FC Famalicão (19:30 BST) – 45-minute match
    • Either Friday, 31st July (17:00 or 19:45 BST) or Saturday, 1st August (19:00 BST): Palace v TBC – 90-minute match
  • Saturday, 15th August: SC Freiburg v Palace (13:00 BST)
I assume the two week gap between Como and Freiburg is to allow Sage to work with the bulk of the players returning from the World Cup.

Thanks Doombear 🙂

Looks more like a proper preseason now. Will be important for Sage to get time in with the group if we want to hit the ground running.

Nice 1

First pre-season game, overview.

CP 5 - 1 ST

Both sides a bit rusty in the first half with a few mistakes in each, no huge surprise there in mid-July.

The quality of Palace still showed across the whole game, Swindon struggled to deal with us.

Really impressed with França and Doucoure.

França played centre forward in a more traditional front three, and he was absolutely clinical and well deserved his hat-trick.

If Doucoure can stay fit and can reproduce it on the higher level, we may at last see his old self back.

Good day for Eddie too.

Ozoh made a bad pass across the Swindon defence that led to their only goal. Some dodgy passes. Had a few errors today. I have seen good things from him in the past, he'll have better days than today.

Johnson unfortunately struggled to find team-mates with his crosses, and a couple of shots over the goal. Similar to what we've seen in the league last season.

Top ratings:
Doucoure 10/10
França 10/10
Nketiah 9/10
Benamar 8.5/10
Cardines 8/10
Drakes-Thomas 8/10
Adaramola 7/10

Low ratings:
Johnson 5/10
Benitez 5/10
Ozoh 4/10

Oh, and a few will remember similar soundtracks to this game; 90 minutes of Ian Holloway's (now of Swindon) dulcet tones.
