Possible rule changes

Really like this idea

Goalkeepers going down for stoppages was one aspect, another is the time taken on throw-ins and goal-kicks.

The proposal is that possession would flip to the opposition if a countdown runs out.

It follows the success of adding an eight-second limit for goalkeepers holding the ball.

Like the goalkeepers law a referee would not be expected to apply it strictly to the letter but to use it as a genuine deterrent.

So, if a keeper takes too long to take a goal-kick then the opposition will get the ball and the restart would be a corner.

Isn't that already in force?

One or two good ideas in the proposals but loads of awful ones.

Time wasting has to be cut down. Goalkeepers in general, and players feigning a head injury to get the opponents promising break halted.

I want to see VAR got rid of immediately so I’m not in favour of it becoming involved with anything else. Certainly not corners or second yellows. The game would just go to rat s***!

I’d be in favour of goal-kicks and throw-ins being subject to a time limit in which to take them.

The offside rule needs some work so the torso rule might help.

A rule should be introduced/enforced to stop a goalkeeper's injury, real or imagined, being an opportunity for a manager's team talk.

Agreed. I would allow the opposition to have one but not the team whose goalkeeper it is.
