Parish Out

Parish has done a great job keeping our club solvent and in the PL for 10 years. He wants us to play a more attacking football and have a modern stadium fit for this league without putting the club at risk again like his predecessor did. He brought in wealthy owners believing their financial muscle would help but so far their input has been pretty woeful.

On the football front he was well supported by Dougie with his ability to uncover gems but since his departure for Saudi there’s been a steady decline in that area. While he deserves criticism for agreeing the transfer of Lacroix just before the season began, he has been badly let down by Hobbs who is doing to the squad what he did at Wolves.
As regards managers, Glasner was a good step forward from Roy in terms of style of play, and he delivered our first 3 major trophies , but he came with baggage and it was always going to end in tears. He left us with the Conference League title but a team near the bottom of the league. Sage was a good appointment in that he played the same formation as Glasner but with a higher press, and had shown he was capable of turning a poor side into a decent successful team. Whether he can do so here remains to be seen.

I trust Parish to make the right decisions for the club. I believe he will give Sage more time to turn things around. I hope he’s decided to show Hobbs the door before the January window opens and give Dougie a call to see if he’s had enough of the sunshine and is ready to come back as DoF with a seat on the board.

Always makes me laugh when fans want OWNERS of football clubs out

It’s like walking in your local pub and demanding the OWNER leaves because you drink in there 🤣

Parish has more right to stay than any of us, I’ve been going 52 years, but without the likes of Noadsey, Jordan and Parish and co, I wouldn’t have had a club to support and then people want them out when we have a poor run on the pitch. 🤪
Its very reactionary to start shouting they want Parish and the board out, but none of them have a viable plan to take over. If they have been in charge for 16 years of course they have made some mistakes, but that weighs very little against things they have got right.
What do they think would happen, if they decided enough is enough and sold up to the highest bidder, regardless of where they came from and suitability to run a football club? All of a sudden we break into the top 6 and win every week! People need to accept, we are never going to be a big club, the rules are stacked against other teams joining them. There are the odd exception Leicester ( now in League 1 ), Brighton started well, but it doesnt last, the big clubs just pinch the best players.

Under the leadership of Parish we have been in the Premier League for 13 years. We have won three trophies and been in two FA Cup finals. We have qualified for European football for two seasons. The club is also in a reasonable financial position.

He has overseen by far the most successful period in the history of this club. It's not even close.

I did think Textor had two good points
1) he put all lot of readies in to get the Academy finished when no one else did

2) he correctly spoke about ambition or lack there of when it came to Parish

It’s hard to think to think otherwise that someone is part of the problem not solution to notch it up 3 spots in the prem

Parish put faith in Hobbs with the monies paid for JSL & Johnson both turned out to be a poor return on investment

Parish is now very shy on putting that kind of money on players ever again due to being burnt

This will , likely is becoming Palace's downfall this season

Would Love to hear Parish tell us why he thinks we are in this position

It’s so easy to name Palace leaders on the pitch in seasons gone by , but 26/27 everyone on the pitch , dressing room , crowd is looking asking “ who is it “ ?

Steve - who’s the leader on the pitch where has he gone ?
Textor is a poor reference point. A man with no ethics or morals, hated by number of clubs he touched. Literally had Lyon fans walk up to us say f&#k John Textor. His version of ambition would be bankrupt the club

Hear Hear !
I have the utmost respect for Steve Parish, a gentleman of gravitas and presence.

Very wise. All these words about whether the Manager should stay or go are meaningless unless the people in whose gift it is to sack and appoint read this forum. Even if they do, whether they pay any attention to it is another matter.

Very sad how it could all fall apart this season, unless the right call is made regarding manager choice.
I don't recall a groundswell of dissent when Pierre Sage was announced as the new manager.
It has been well documented on HOL that I had my reservations about the appointment.
Had Sean Dyche been appointed, Steve Parish would have faced 'Shot and shell'.
In the final analysis no person is infallible, perfection is not in the human gift.

Well he'd better be quick as aren't Spurs have meant to have approached DF?

can i invite any Football-historians to shed light on this. From memory both Newcastle and ManUre had a major fans uprising against the ownership.
I agree here and thus also with BromleyMonkey. Give the Chairman, the one whoi makes decisions, the sack. The concept of "Parish Out" is more thn naive.

Of course one is fully entitled to critisize a decision or decisions and I am certainly not happy with some appointments and timing but if one is to base judgement on the simple fact that he is running a business and has to act in accordance with strict financial guidelines that hit clubs like palace more than those with financial muscle we will always be chasing our tail to stand still. I hate that but it is a fact of life.

I don't for one second believe he sets out to sell our best players with the aim of weakening the team. Sure he is forced to sell the most valuable/saleable assets to makes ends meet and willl not have the entire sale proceeds available for replacements of the same quality. Lets not forget that theses saleable assets were themselves not at the quality level when we bought them.We developed them, they either got talled-up or developed too high opinion of themselves, or openly sought a huge increase in salary i.e pushed for a move. As much as i would like to tell all these players to ply their trade in the reserves we don't have that luxury. So, sell or let them disrupt a la Sarr & Mateta.

So back to Parish, with the best will in the world I can't fathom the Hobbs appointment. On what basis was he appointed?? Certainly not track record. Thus, yes, I critisize that but to chant "Parish Out" is fruitless

May I congratulate and applaud you for your insightful comments.

This is seemingly lost on many people.

Pino was a perfectly fine replacement for Eze, if we think of Eze how he was when he signed him. Same with Canvot and Guehi.

In fact, both Pino and Canvot had more top flight appearances at a younger age than the players they were bought to succeed.

This is a hard one - as others have said our most successful Chairman - and that’s undisputed.

But his transfer dealings at times are abysmal - Larsen and Johnson for nigh on £80M last January window.

Then this summer - replacing Guehi and Lacroix with a sick note free, Disaster (Desasi), and an unproven 18 year old is naive at best if not inept.

Add that to not sorting out the Sarr or Mateta situation - to the point where we have one not wanting to play and the other making stupid challenges like yesterday.

The wheels are coming off quickly and Parish has got to act now and install some stability.

Now his time to prove he deserves the faith he is being shown.

Most of this is entirely fair but what else do you think could have been done re JPM and Sarr? We tried to sell JPM for £30m in January but he failed a medical and nobody else wants him. With Sarr yes he wanted out but again nobody actually wanted him. What exactly was Parish supposed to do differently?

The 'Wheel nuts' have become loose.
We are like a pedalo fighting the tide, glug, glug, glug.

Either offer them new contracts - or at least have a conversation along the lines of we will get you sorted, but meantime you are Palace player so you give your best for the team.

Not as in Sarr’s case just sulking.

The Guehi replacement was Canvot, and given how he ended last season I think a lot of people were fairly happy with that?

It’s an interesting point though, why are those ‘his’ signings, but Sarr, Wharton, Henderson, Mateta, Eze, Olise, Guehi, Lacroix, Munoz weren’t?

People used to moan Parish never spent enough money, but when he does it’s his fault they haven’t worked out.

Mate that’s agreed but you cannot deny last January and this summer have been awful.
