Parish Out

Turning on Parish is idiotic in my view.

When he took over our bad season was "we might go bust or get relegated to league one". Now our bad season is "we've made a shocking defence of the FA Cup, are making hard work of Europe and have lost a couple of our England internationals".

Let's try to regain some perspective. Yes we all want more investment but Glasner does this routine at every club. We haven't got the money at the moment to spend 200m but the club remains on an overall upward curve, we have some brilliant players and are financially healthy so will have a Premier League club to support next season.
I am entertaining the possibility that this might not transpire to be the reality.
Only last night my dear wife commented that I had real concern etched on my face.

It's all very well being flippant - but we clearly had £35M that could have been spent in the summer on squad depth - but Parish chose not to do it - in fact we were in profit from summer window dealings - so nowhere near breaching FFP.

If that had been invested then on squad depth - we would not be in this position..!!

But Parish as in other seasons decided not to - and again panic bought in January when our backs were against the wall and it was all too late..!!
It’s over 3 year rolling periods, not one summer or season. We had accumulated losses.

The sooner Parish fucks off the better.

Parish is happy taking one of the highest salaries in the league, for f***ing what? Glasner saved his arse by performing a miracle last season.

Blokes happy with finishing 17th every year. This season was our chance to kick on, but the c*** had f***ed it.

“He saved us etc etc etc”. f*** OFF

Egotistical c***.

Well said PalaceTom - whoever the idiot is who posted that Oliver Glasner has to go, must know nothing about football. I have supported Palace for 55 years (and I live miles away) and have been loyal to CP all my life. Saying Glasner must go is World Class stupidity. Do we want to regress to the days of Viera, Allardyce, and dare I say Roy (I do love him though) - when we scraped staying in the division. Oliver Glasner has taken us to a new level, we were regarded as the best thing outside of the traditional Top 6'ers.....I joined this forum to express support for the GLASNER IN and PARISH OUT . We had one chance to make our club one of the main teams, we have blown it and if Glasner goes who do we turn to?? I know some of the things that have happened which saw the New York Jets guy come in. Where is he, where is their money.......support Glasner - I love his passion.....he loves Palace, isnt this what we always wanted!

I find it hard to understand how any true Palace fan with just the basic grasp of our history can want Parish out.

He's made some mistakes, sure, not least the Europa League MCO balls-up, but who hasn't? And running a football club in the Premier League strikes me as an incredible difficult thing to do. And he has done it relatively smoothly, with NO financial worries for 16 years, in which time we've gone from the bottom of the Champ to the middle of the Premier League. Strong links to the community which is SO important, and generally rebuilt the football club, and not only that, made it so much better than it ever was before.

Getting Dougie in place was a ballsy genius move. Everyone moves on sometime, especially if they're good at what they do. And DF was not short of offers.

They got Glasner, Guehi, Olise, Eze, Lacroix, Mateta, Munoz, Kamada, Richards, Sarr and many other top players.

Under Parish's watch we have had the very best of times. Be very careful what you wish for.

The next chairman could be another Goldberg or Jordan. Or worse.

I hope Steve is in charge for a very long time.

Overall the job Parish has done as chairman has been exceptional, he's by far the clubs most successful chairman and tbh not many have done a better job at other clubs during his tenure, we're one of the best run clubs in the country, he's financially stringent, is a supporter, has the clubs longterm and best interests at heart. Theres no one else id rather have running the club.

The disappointing thing for me, is at a club of our size, its all about timing, you build a squad over 2 to 3 years, know when to back the manager, make a calculated risk when the odds are in your favour and aggressively attack the market financially, showing real ambition and intent for the forthcoming season. We've been in a position a couple of times where we could have done that over the last 10 years and have chosen not to.

If you're not gonna back a manager who's delivered a trophy, European football and your best points total in the prem, then you never will.
How do we know he hasn’t backed the manager. To suggest the players we have signed were not rubber stamped by Glasner is ridiculous. We now know Glasner is a liar who decided back in October he was leaving despite us being top 4. We were only ever a STEPPING STONE for him and his deluded ambition. He got lucky winning the cup ( thankfully) and without that credit in the bank his current record would get any manager sacked. Especially a manger who throws his players under the bus by not using the bench. He knew Guehi was going and he knew we already have Lerma, Riad, Clyde and Canvot plus an academy player who can play centre back but he wanted the club to waste more money. Instead he is trying to deflect criticism onto Parish. His self interest has caught up with him.

2010 was 2010 and yes we will always be thankful to Parish for that - but on that remember it wasn't only Parish, it was Martin Long, Stephen Browett and Jeremy Hosking. In fact if you recall correctly Parish was a reluctant member of that Group - saying at the time he had limited funds and that this was a temporary measure..!!

Fast forward 16 years and that "temporary measure" remains in place and Parish's "limited funds" are still an issue and costing us..!!

Meantime Parish has seen his personal wealth grow to an estimated £50M..!!

So don't tell me Parish is doing this just because he's a Palace fan - he's doing very well out of this "temporary measure" thank you very much..!!

He asked for buisness to be done early, it wasnt, we spent 3 million, untill we sold Eze, 1 week before the end of the window. we then decided to sell guehi on the last day, without a replacement, the summer window was comical, you really think that was backing the manager ?

Lerma is a midfielder, riad is injured, Clyne is past it and not a cb, canvot is a promising youngster who is nowhere near an adequate replacement for guehi.

Keeping Guehi was backing the manager. ‘ Now tell us who you want in January and we’ll try sign them ‘ was backing the manager. ‘ Oh you’re leaving but you want us to spend €35m on a player who will only sign after he talks to you yep ok ‘ that was backing the manager.

I didn't say any of that but, also, why shouldn't he be paid? I'm a Palace fan but also wouldn't run the club for nothing. I mean if I ran the club we'd be bankrupt within a year but that's not the point.

We're stable financially, in Europe and are still well clear of relegation trouble despite a 10 game winless run. It's undeniable really that the club is progressing overall.

Spunking money is rarely the answer. Look at West Ham and Forest, spent loads between them and at least one should go down.

Parish makes mistakes but is generally making more good decisions than bad and, unless a nation state wants to come in and rip the soul out of the club in order to buy us a few more trophies, I don't know if we could do loads better

Why on earth would we do that?

The new stand is part of our future success. To postpone it again would be insane. It is a minimum requirement.
Absolutely correct and Mr Parish understands this and is going the right way about it. It is the only thing which will change us from a small club to a bigger club. It will increase our gate revenue and more importantly bring in more corporate football and non football revenue, establishing ourselves as a conference centre, restaurants etc. Millions spent on players is transistionary it is spent and gone and after a few years the players are forgotten. Money spent on building a new stadium is there for all to see for years to come and is an asset on the books. Remember Arthur Waite building his stand ...

The issue for me isn’t competence as chairman, it’s exposure as an investor. Palace makes up a large part of his overall wealth, which naturally influences his decisions.

I don’t have reliable figures, but purely illustratively, and assuming Parish owns 10% of the club: selling Guehi for £20m could increase the value of Parish's equity in Palace by £2m, and could even avoid him needing to inject £2m himself to fund his share of the club's spending plans. If you accept the often-quoted speculation that his net worth is around £50–60m, with perhaps only £15m of that outside of his Palace stake, then that £2m seems like a significant amount.

Id like to see him reduce his stake but stay on as Chairman. This could unshackle the finances and allow the club to let players like Guehi leave for free if the alternative is to unsettle an already thin squad.

I can’t see any club of our size turning down £20m for a player who could leave for free in 6 months regardless of ownership.

Lucky winning the cup but went on a long successful streak during the cup run and you said in the sentence before got us to fourth. Was that lucky as well? Was beating villa and Man City lucky?

Getting £20m for Guehi is a no brainer, its sensible business. There are 16 matches to go, that means if he stayed injury free and played in them all we would be losing £1.25m plus his wages for every match he plays. No player is worth that.
