Palace vs KuPS.....Finland

That would be a… bold lineup against KuPS. Do we take him literally with that line of the interview? Could it not just be those who are most tired will sit it out?

Mind you he has said he doesn’t mind having to go through the play-off. Avoiding the play-off has got to be a lot better for us surely? An extra two games we don’t need.

Not that I’m really aware of how good KuPS might or might not be. Maybe we can afford to make all those changes. I am attending so I hope we do give our full effort and respect to the fixture!
That’s the line up I expect …..Ollie has said he will probably make 11 changes, he doesn’t care about the extra games…they are too far ahead for him to be worried about. Leeds game is the priority.

As a Finn, I believe that KuPS could at best be a league 1 team. However, the team has several players of f.ex.African origin as well as Finnish talent. I'm sure KuPS players will give their all, because this is an unique opportunity for them to show their skills for their own professional careers. They will come into the game fighting from the start, that's for sure, because. they can only advance with a win. Of course, KuPS is no match for Palace in terms of skills. But Palace has to be alert from the start.

I guess it depends on what level the Palace 'B side' listed above, if selected, would be? Great to hear KuPS will likely go for it. Will make for a good game no matter the selection. Looking forward to it.

An alternative strategy for Palace if they go with their complete second string is to concentrate on keeping it tight with a low block and breakaway opportunities for 60 minutes then make 5 attacking first team subs to try and win it late on.

KuPS may not want to overcommit too early so possibly a stalemate then the last half hour both sides going for the win.

Not sure I like the sound of that. Getting in the top 8 might come down to goal difference, I think? (I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong).
I'd rather hit them hard with a top team from the get-go, otherwise nerves creep in.

I doubt we’ll be taking them lightly after the Larnaca debacle, the Cypriots were a dreadful team, but they did a number on us that’s for sure

I'd like that too, but playing a starting a separate 11 to Saturday , and willing to risk the two extra playoff games, is what OG has said he'll do

I'd like a more balanced team for both games with strategic subs planned in to manage the minutes. But easier said that done and Kamada being out makes it even harder

I hope Palace have the energy to compete and win, because it would seem we are using fringe/youth players now. Glasner always goes for a win,, so it won't be for lack of skill or tactics.

Goal difference. Brendan Rogers brought his Liverpool squad to Selhurst. While beating us 0-3 he committed to keep on scoring, trying to improve his goal difference to guarantee winning the League. And we all know what happened in the final 3 minutes of the game.

Two of the top 8 are playing against each other, meaning that if we win our game vs KuPS we are guaranteed a top 8 place.

These are the players that, you would imagine, almost certainly start on Thursday if OG is going to go with two different XIs for the KuUps and Leeds games. The question is, who would fill in at centre-back? Who accompanies Lerma in midfield, and who would our other wide player be? My gut feeling is he'll end up playing all of our usual three centre-backs but he'll rotate them across the two games so none of them plays 180 minutes. Similarly, I think Lerma, Wharton and Hughes will rotate rather than a youth player fill in. With Sarr gone, Kamada now injured and Devenny possibly having to fill in at right back we are looking very short up top. I wonder if Nketiah and Pino might play one half each on Thursday and something similar on Saturday. I just can't see OG suddenly throwing even two or three U21/U18 players in from the start, but you never know. More likely we might see a couple get a run out in the last 15/20 minutes on Thursday if we have the game in the bag. Whatever Glasner says about being fine with a play-off, he's a born winner so there's no way he means it!

Benitez

Devenny Canvot ? ? Sosa

Lerma ?

Esse Uche ?

That was a freak game though. They needed to win 7-0, so 3-0 was no good to them.

3-0 against Kups would do nicely for us.

Maybe he knows we'll have made a few signings by then?!!!!

No, we are not. There are other teams on 9 points like us. In case they have a better Goal difference than us they overtake us. Unfortunately taking a look at their opponents the teams who are on 9 points look like to have the chance to score a few on Thursday, but so do we.

likely but look at the teams below us not just above - if they have big wins and we win 1-0 it changes things - and as one of them is Fiorentina that's not so unlikely - and another our friends from Larnaca who could prove to be a pain in the backside for a second time

Fair point, apologies hadn't considered being overtaken by the teams below us!

Worth mentioning, KuPS most likely will need to "go for it". They can draw and that should probably be enough for them but if we get a goal I think they will need to open up and go for it, similar to what Shelbourne needed to do. Once that happened, there was always going to be goals for us. With a few fringe players trying to make an impression, could be a rout.
