Palace v Bournemouth Matchday Thread

Munoz having a poor game, nowhere to be seen, when Semenyo was charging down the left wing, Richards couldn't catch him. He crosses then goal, game over.
Everyone knows Semenyo is there danger man.

I think he is. Most of the time he ends up passing backward rather than an outlet, he won't go at them unless there is about 20 yards to his nearest player. He has misjudged several headers and tackles, their first attack and the corner came from him jumping under the ball to lose possession, and late in the game he managed to turn easy possession into a chance for them with an awful backpass to Guehi. One decent corner, one terrible free kick over everyone and out of play. It's like when he first started in the PL and wasn't up with the PL speed, and Bournemouth are up a level on intensity.
I do get that, I thought he was useless the first half of the season last year and offered nothing, but he has shown to be composed on the ball but he is really not suited to this particular type of game, it’s too fast for him and against Everton too powerful. That’s why I think Hughes would be a much better bet. But I would say Ollie knows better than us.

Just got off a plane. Bournemouth must be the last team you want to play after an international break.

Look at the opposition. We've not played anyone rubbish except our bogey team, who aren't so crap anymore, and Notts Forest when they still had a decent manager. Even the newly promoted side was the decent one, and the ref stole a win from us vs Chelsea. It's been a tough start and we've done well. There are no easy games but there are easier games.

I like your optimism and I certainly hope you're right.

I'm feeling less optimism myself though, I think people went too over the top about the side and perhaps gassed a lot of fans and perhaps some of these players up a bit.

I'm too ignorant how this aspect affects Bournemouth but to quite an extent our players' performances' quality is in inverseproportion to the player's involvement in internationals. Might be an idea to bring on Hughes and Nketiah sooner rather thsn later.

Get Hughes on and if we score in first 10 mins of this half we’ll have the wind in our hair.

The only good news is on this display there is no contest between Oliver and Iraola so that makes Man Utd task a lot easier. Iraola is more flexible with his tactics whereas we rely only on breakaways and have little idea how to play the ball through midfield. As usual our play in the final third is rubbish and once again the defence has fallen down due to poor defending of high balls in to the box. Frankly so far we are a long way from being anywhere near as good as Bournemouth and a miracle is now required to get anything from this game. GOD please help us!!!!

The usual over reaction to a poor first half.

I don't know if people know but as it looks like bad news on this home game today we did at least sign Dan Casey last month.

The move went through successfully. Dan officially signed for Crystal Palace on September 10, 2025, on a three-year pro deal (with an option for a fourth year). He's now fully on Palace's books and eligible for their U21s in Premier League 2.
