Palace v Bournemouth Matchday Thread

It was initially difficult for me to accept a draw, very much like Crystanbul, where Bolasie fired over with about a minute left.
But 3-3 was about right, but you have to applaud Palace's effort and determination. Sometimes you get the rewards, sometimes you don't. I don't want to start feeling entitled about results. Palace put in an excellent shift, and you have to be very happy about that 😁👍
was Gayle who missed the sitter at the end in Crystanbul.

For me this is why we love football and what makes it the addictive thing we keep coming back to. We were so close to a win that we'd still be talking about in 20 years time.

we are conveniently forgetting the Moses miskick from 6 yards right at the death which should have won the game for them!

Back to the game - corner defending is a problem, Richards seemed to be targeted as Bournemouth did last season when he got sent off (harshly), Sarr foul definitely NOT a sending off, but penalty was definitely correct - ref warned the guy for holding 20 seconds beforehand and he had 2 arms wrapped around MG and wasn't looking at the ball - remember Hughes at Brighton a few years ago, which was very similar.

The team never gave up which was the most positive aspect of the game IMHO, margins are so fine now with VAR etc the result really could have gone either way

I heard Wharton described as MotM on the way from the game.

Not for me.

His passing was woeful. If he had been more accurate we would not have looked 2nd best in the first half and could have killed them off early.

This is so unlike him. Hoping it was just a one off bad day.

I'll say it again...we'll never see the best of Adam Wharton until Hughes is back next to him. He's the graft to Wharton's finesse and gives him the confidence to play with freedom. I'm pretty sure he's said as much in an interview last season.

Criminal to break that partnership up, imo. But in OG we trust.

Should Nketiah start instead of Pino (at least until Pino is bedded in)?
Nah. Because how does one become 'bedded in'? Not by sitting on the bench, I'd argue.
He had an off game...but he should've had an assist for Mateta's header and he's shown plenty enough in his games so far to suggest he'll be a great player for us.

Stick with him.

Totally agree. And it’s good that we have a different option if we need to change it up. Pino is only going to get better and I think in a years time we’ll all be worrying about him leaving for a ‘bigger’ club.

Pino has to adapt to the physicality and the pace of the PL but there is certainly a talented footballer in there.
Like Wharton he needs to add goals to his game to elevate him to the next level.
Spot on Willo. Yeremy is yet to learn that in the PL he doesn't have the time he wants on the ball he's used to having in Spain. He has some serious skills but he needs to think and act quicker than he has tended to thus far.

It will take time but I think he'll be worth waiting for.

The only think criminal is your constant rattling on about Kamada not deserving to be part of the first 11

Agree - I didn’t even take it entirely as him having a bad game. For the period he was on the pitch most of the team were under par. He was taken off and we changed the tactics, it happens.
