Palace team vs SC Freiburg

Absolutely awful.

A friendly or not, we have been inept.

We will miss Lacroix and selling Munoz looks laughable after this performance.

Hopeless up front as well.

We miss Lacroix, Tomiyasu has been our best CB today for me. Guessand, Franca and Nketiah offer movement up top. If Mateta is going we need a new number 1 striker with Nketiah back up and Strand laursen the 3rd option. Freiburg wanted it today and we looked disjointed and perhaps less motivated

Well, if this is anything to go by we will be lucky if we can keep the score down to a 3:0 defeat against Everton. We do not look anywhere ready to start next weekend. Or just perhaps we are just a very poor team now :-(

I think a bit of both. Most experts reckon we will finish 17th or 16th. I think we can see why. We have so little real quality in our squad.
 
Sage doesn’t like a big CF, i dont see Larsen or Mateta starting, I think the front 3 will be a combination of Guessand, Sarr, Nketiah, Franca and it seems McNeil as the 3 interchanging.
 
Calm down, its a friendly. Half our squad has been late into a world cup. Its all about minutes in the legs and pros can turn it back on when there is a real reason to run 5% faster, crunch into a tackle etc.

Teams that will be in the hunt for the title have had poor pre season results and performances.
 
A lot of players have only just returned from the WC, and it showed. We never really got out of second gear, in contrast to Freiburg, who were snapping at our players' heels whenever they got the ball. Not everyone was terrible. Mitchell played ok and so did Wharton and Kamada, plus Tomiyashu looked classy when he came on. Franca, Guessand and Nketiah at least added some movement and got higher up the pitch. On the downside, our defence looks like it's missing a leader, and I'm not confident about Richards being in the middle of the back three, plus we do not look 100% match fit yet. I think we might have to be patient, as the first few games might be a struggle while Sage gets his ideas across and the players get back to full fitness.

Gawd help us then. Three of them are squad players at best.
 
Friendly or not, what we just witnessed was very worrying.
No threat in attack and very vulnerable in defense. Which together is a disastrous combination. Almost looked like they were under instruction not to shoot and instead try and work it into the box first, which we don't have the quality to do.

I said we needed 1 CB on that performance we need 2 quality CB’s and a quality CDM.

On a positive note thought Guessand and McNeil looked decent.

Guessand was far more physical and threatening than Strand Larsen - who was woeful again.

Why didn’t Mateta come on - and where was Dacoure and Pino..??
