Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

Exactly! The football finance pyramid is such that when PL clubs are looking to buy from the Championship the starting price is around £15m but when a Championship club are wanting a PL squad player they think it's fine to offer between £5m and £7m. Devenny isn't going to start many games for us but he can do a decent job when one of the starting XI is tiring and needs to come off. He's versatile and can play in several positions. Glasner liked him because he followed orders and knew what his role was whichever position he was asked to play.

I see Ozoh in a similar vein. He had 10 games under Hodgson as an 18 yo. and has shown in his two loans at Derby since that he's more than comfortable in the Championship. I saw one rumour suggesting Derby were thinking of bidding £5m for him. I hope Sage has seen enough to want to keep him in the squad.

Totally agree. Ozoh shown enough pre season to suggest we give him the opportunity this season. He is quick (quicker than Hughes & Doucoure) and strong and a few instances where he’s played great attacking passes. I’d be gutted if he left for £5m.

Hes exactly the type of player we’d be looking to buy for £20m this time next season!!!!

Good point. We've seen the club bring in some utter dross over the seasons expecting them to be the solution to the squad conundrum when the likes of Devenny fulfil the role already.

Ozoh is a stopper, not rubbish but not that good either. I think the Championship is his level so not bothered if he is sold.

Probably because of his size he is too slow to react in part of the pitch where you need someone who can do that or read the game so that they anticipate.

The point being made I think is that if you want first team players then expect to pay first team player prices, although it doesn't always work out as we have seen... Whereas paying over the odds for bit part squad players seems foolish when we have that type of player already in the ranks.

Yup.

I would also add that if we are going to keep Ozoh why are we not trying him out as a emergency centre Back which is where OG thought his best position would be. He could then become the new Lerma? A defensive midfielder / defender.

It would take time to convert him and we've ran out of time. It's as if we didn't know when the season starts.

Not sure i totally agree. I'd love one or two to be decent squad players but not sure they are.

If we can get a guaranteed (not half upfront and the rest on appearances etc) £5m for Ozoh and £7m for Devenny i'd be tempted to take it with a sell on % included.

I just don't think Devenny is good enough and his lack of pace was so evident last year.
We need to avoid another JRS situation IMHO when we probably should have cashed in a couple of years ago.

Ozoh may have a better chance but does seem a little too big to get around the pitch.

If we are to play 343 then with 3 CM positions surely they are 5th and 6th choice. Maybe sell on and keep one?

Also need some homegrown in the 25 don't we?

OG brought Ozoh on to play at CB away to Bournemouth.

Unfair on the player really under the circumstances. Ozoh looked uncomfortable and Semenyo outmuscled him for the only goal

Looked pretty handy when Roy let him play . I think you’re wrong about him .

Ozoh turned 21 three months ago. He has come back after two bad injuries and has played the last 20 matches relatively injury free. It’s not surprising that given his age and injury record he is not, in the opinion of some on here, up to full speed. What matters is that he was considered one of the best Derby players and we are actively sourcing midfield talent from the Championship. I am not a great fan of Roy Hodgson but he thought that Ozoh at 18 was good enough for appearances in Premier League and thats good enough for me.

For our Academy to succeed we need roll models for the scholars to realise they will be given a chance. Selling him £5m is a joke when we are looking to spend £20m on others in that League. Keep him, use him and sell him at Christmas if he doesn’t come up to scratch.

Too many fans seem quick to underrate our Academy players and big-up players from outside. There's a reason Wrexham came in for Imray and Derby seem to be constructing a lowball offer for Ozoh. They've both already proved themselves in the Championship, the very league people want us to plunder for new players. We're still in pre-season. All the players are still working their way to full fitness and match readiness.

I hope you are right of course. But I saw him several times for Derby and the opposition bypassed him with quick passing.

Again I am not saying he is rubbish, just I think as a midfielder he is Championship level. It maybe that as he gets older he matures and reads the game better but personally I would be teaching him th CB role so if he stays he is Lerma's future replacement.
