Our new Captain is

Full backs are not usually a first choice as captain, it’s usually someone more central with the game in front of or all around them. I know there’s probably plenty of examples to make my statement bollocks and it’s a long time since I played👴🏻😃
A certain John Sewell played 258 games as right back, and captain for four seasons (sorry I'm old!)

I think Chris Richards would be excellent as skipper.
Too injury prone. A skipper needs to be an ever present. I agree if he was always available but another consideration is his quality. He's a good defender but he's no Marc or Max. If we were to sign another quality centre half and either Riad or Canvot fcame in and found form Richards wouldn't even get in the team.

I've said in previous threads that Hughes is a leader but in my eyes not a captain. He comes across as a playful, impish scamp. Now that he is a senior pro he has acquired somewhat of a Peter Pan quality. In some ways he reminds me of Joe Root whose captaincy was a bit of a mixed bag.

Hughes is great to have around the squad, a fan favourite, and still a very good player, but maybe not the authoritative type every other player will look up to.

For these reasons it is between Henderson, Lacroix and Richards for me.

Agreed re the captain not ideally being the goalkeeper. Richards has captaincy experience for the USA (sorry, USMNT). Lacroix was vice captain at Wolfsburg.

Of the two I'd go on gut feel for Maxence Lacroix: more likely to get 10% out of everyone else and more of a natural leader.

Hughes, Lacroix, Henderson in that order but whoever it is needs to really be pulling everyone together after today. If heads have dropped I think whoever the captain is will have more chance of lifting spirits than Glasner will. I don't think there's ever been a time in our history where the captain is as important as he is going to be now.
