Our Goal Difference....its Rubbish

Currently the joint-fourth-worst in the Prem. Today the commentator mentioned our dire lack of goals from open play.

Forest are already above us on GD, as could be Spurs if a few games go a certain way.

And a question : if there were a prize for pinging the ball off the woodwork and hitting it only a few inches wide, catching the side-netting, or skying it miles up into the stands, or hoofing it into a no man's land between the goal and the corner flag....would we be in line for it ? This does not bode well for the Autumn.

shots on target ? the opposition 'keeper can go for a coffee break during the match

There is the old adage that sold-on attacking players, when returning back to their old club....they always score. Its something about them being familiar with the tactics of all the defenders.

Eze. If Arsenal give us a bad thumping, our Goal Difference will be confirmed as the Worst of all the surviving clubs.

And yet we have survived and are in a European final

Up until, say, 6 matches ago we actually had a very good GA total, which also explains the clean sheet total being impressive. As we all know, it is the GF column that is particularly weak. The GA in the last month is not encouraging. Whilst the majority have opined that Canvot is settling nicely now the fact is that 13 goals against in the 5 matches is too many. Maybe it has something to do with the constant midfield/forward rotations?

Was only minus one before we played liverpool, bournemouth and man city away.

We have expected xg of about 12 more goals than we actually have scored which is a lot higher than most teams. We have missed so many chances this season, especially mateta in first half of season.

We started off the season able to defend. We could defend and score from set pieces too. We've ended it looking shambolic on occasion. Glasner needs to take some responsibility for that. But I suppose if we win in Europe, why care?

There's a lot of sorting out needed for next season. Huge improvement required and, frankly, much more effort from the coaching and playing staff.

Yep. Both goals conceded from balls in the air and another one from a set piece. Our back line is poor in the air and nobody in there is especially good at organising. On their first goal yesterday a well organised back line would have caught them offside. It didn’t because Canvot was about 6 yards deeper than his centre half partners.

Most games we've lost weve been easily the better team before running out of steam or luck with decisions, utd away I'm pretty sure we'd have got at least a point without the utterly garbage var ruling on Lacroix.

With respect, he was basically in line with his defenders.

Maybe it because we play 8 defenders and 3 attackers, also although Kamada has played better as the season has progressed, he still has no goals and one assist in the premier league, lets hope he gets a hat-trick against Vallecano.

I have also noticed Wharton pushing further forward in recent games and taking more shots on goal which has led to the goal he scored yesterday.
