Oscar Mingueza

Just had a here we go from Romano signing on a free. 27 year old centre back that can play right back. Played at Barca and then Celta Vigo. Anyone know much about him?
Yeah just saw that. Don’t know much about him but fits our profile, experienced, international capped, covers 2 positions and free transfer. Much better than blowing £40m on average PL player

Can't say I know anything about him. But from what I've just read it seems like he's a decent player or can play/provide cover across almost the entire back line. Seems like a very sensible piece of business which hasn't cost us a fee.

Let's hope there's a few more lined up. When we finalise deals without a whole load of chatter it usually gives me a bit more confidence that we're going about our business the right way.

Very possible. Munoz is now 30 and if we want to get some decent money for him then now is the time to sell. especially as he's been in the shop window with.a very good World Cup
wonder why he didn't take a penalty against Switzerland. Still, Colombia's leading goalscorer in a World Cup is not too shabby.
Mingueza played 47 games last season for the 6th placed Spanish team so he will surely expect a lot of playing time. Maybe Parish is seeing which of Munoz or Lacroix is the hottest item over the next few weeks

I'm pretty sure he's a decent defender but I hope he's not our replacement for Lacroix. Lacroix is a leader and very aggressive, if we don't have somebody to step up to that role then we could lose our defence.

I have not heard of him, or seen him play, but I hadn’t heard of or seen Munoz or Lacroix either.
The fact we’ve offered him a 4 year deal indicates that the club have confidence that he will be a strong addition.
It’s the kind of under the radar signing that the club does well, in some ways more so than when it splashes the cash.

Great signing.

Had a few Barca mates who said he never did much for them, but really kicked on at Celta and looks the real deal. Can imagine there would have been a lot of interest so certainly feels like a a bit of a coup.

May also know Riad.

It certainly feels like we are starting to use the free transfer market well. Using it to bring some experience in, and spending on kids with a high potential.

Might not be a Lacroix replacement....but if we get a big offer in for him, we've already got another senior body in the building
