Old TV Shows you would like to watch again

Although we have multiple streaming platforms and multiple vintage TV channels some classic TV shows from yesteryear never seem to surface.

This maybe due to the subject matter* e.g. "Love Thy Neighbour" but more likely due to copyright issues.

Anyway whatever the reason which shows would you like repeated on TV (any channel).

I am going with Citizen Smith or Steeleye if you like. 😀 I watched this at the time and have never seen it again. Maybe it hasn't aged well but I would like to find out. I do remember the mother always calling Robert Lindsay Foxy instead of Wolfe.

Another one is Lenny Henry, he did a series about a pirate radio DJ back in the day when he was funny.

Your suggestions?

*One of the minor channels has been showing It Aint Half Hot Mum, Up Pompeii and Benny Hill. I don't expect these to turn up on mainstream just somewhere.

My cousin was in a few Dick Emery shows they never got repeated because of a copyright dispute which is probably resolved but now the issue is probably subject matter. I love Dave Allen but he would not allow his shows to be shown more than twice so sadly we will never see them again.

One of Dave Allen's shows was on over Christmas - can't remember the channel but it should be searchable.

His character’s name was Delbert Wilkins and about the only time Lenny Henry was funny. Don’t know what the programme was called.

Interesting. I know the BBC have said they can't show them again maybe this was a non BBC show?

It would be great if they could repeat them.

I watched him on YouTube before Xmas, amazing how an ordinary bloke sitting in a chair can be so funny. Because I’d watched this a sketch of his popped up as ‘recommended’ I think it was titled ‘funniest sketch ever’ if you search it up, so simple, but so funny

Love him or hate him, we must protect his right to exist. I love his irish jokes. He himself was part Jewish............when we lose our sense of humour we lose a part of our humanity.

A lot of old programmes can be found one way or another and to me they never seem as good as I remember them. Minder in particular is really disappointing watching it now.

Do still enjoy watching old episodes of Desmonds though, also Vic Reeves Big Night out still make me laugh.

I know what you mean, minder is one of my all time favourites and there’s a handful of episodes that are still great and I can watch them again and again. But some episodes seem really poor now, especially the last couple of waterman series, even he said it himself they just seemed to be re-hashing old story lines, which is why he jumped ship because it had run its course. The Gary Webster years arn’t even worth mentioning
