Notting Hill Carnival

Same as Glastonbury. But never the same tired old thread on here year after year.
But isn't Glastonbury held in a fenced in area and ticketed so the population can be safely controlled?

And are you saying that crime at Glastonbury is comparable to Notting hill, I haven't seen the numbers but I would be surprised at that.

My main point which you are ignoring is that it's not that it's a black peoples festival it's that it is held in narrow public streets and safety experts have repeatedly warned that there will be a major crush one year. It's grown too big for the current location.

And I am not advocating it being cancelled, just re-imagined.

I had a look at the Glastonbury crime figures. Even if you include the whole county for a year, it's still not comparable.

"Notting Hill Carnival 2025 key policing outcomes:

528 arrests across the two main days of Carnival.

61 arrests resulting from Live Facial Recognition deployments.

30 registered sex offenders identified and checked through LFR activity.

Four reported stabbing/slashing incidents, none resulting in life-threatening injuries.

55 arrests for assaults on police officers. Two officers sustained injuries requiring hospital treatment.

167 arrests for drug offences.

50 arrests for possession of offensive weapons."

Last year's stats.
Cost to the tax payer, £12m

A bargain and a benefit to us all. I do remember when it was usually nice and celebratory. Obviously before all the stuff we have decided to be victims about now.
Somebody should be asking why it's all changed, but there's no way anyone actually wants to know. It will fly in the face of acceptable narratives.
Oh, I also remember when Glastonbury was good.
