Marching Season continues with a hostile Standoff over the Garvaghy Road.
Personal opinion : everybody is wrong and its all so tedious and irritating.
Irish Kilburn is under the Union Jack....no problems. The Republic has 300,000 British residents under the tricolour, no problems. Western Scotland speaks Gallic.....no problems. Catholic & Protestant live together in the US....no problem. Manhatten is no longer owned by the Native Americans - even though the place kept their original name.....no problems. WhydaFeck is it always nutty in the colonised former home of the O'Neill clan. The Catholics aren't even Catholic anymore - the CofE is a bit less hardcore than a hundred years ago. The N.I British are called 'Paddy' when they move to Croydon. Declan Rice is a Nigel, as was Shane McGowan. Anne Widdicombe was a Catholic. St Patrick was a Brit who never embraced Catholicism.
Ethnically, The Beatles were more irish than U2. In the Republic & Croydon nobody cares if somebody else is Catholic or Protestant.
both UK & Irish Right-wingers look up to Tommy Robinson. And the Left in both countries wave Palestine flags.
Most of the marching Orangemen also have an irish passport ( easier to own a 'Place in the Sun' near Benidorm ). Most of the irish do not understand the lyrics of our National Anthem - and support English football teams. Both North and South of the NI border are undergoing rapid multicultural change - rendering identity all very fluid and self declared.
The whole standoff seems to be about little more than Flags.
Opinions on a Postcard - we can fight about whose head is on the Stamp. King Charles or that other Auld crone.
