Nketiah?

More bad luck than anything he's still scored 2 important goals (2 of his best in a palace shirt) and has hit the woodwork a few times and I believe he's had a few disallowed since the Millwall game. He's way too instrumental in our build up to not start and there's no way your saying nketiah is more of a threat up top.
All I’m saying is that chances will be few and far between on Saturday. If a through ball is played, I back Eddie to be onside more than JP! I find him incredibly frustrating that he’s always 2 yards off.

Am I the only one who has been worried by Mateta’s form and performance since he’s been wearing his ear-guard? I know it is a gamble but I’d start Nketiah against City. They wouldnt be expected to see him in the line up. Also, I can’t be the only one who is worried about the links about City and Wharton and Eze? Surely they’ll have their minds elsewhere???
Probably. This looks like a troll to me. He has not been so good against the better sides but bullied the central defenders of Villa and Spurs since coming back. He adjusted well to get a shot away yesterday that produced a good save and was excellent in build up play. Nketiah was his usual woeful self so I suppose you are at least correct that Pep won't expect him to start

Fair enough, but I thought Franca is a midfielder. Is he a striker? I know he took a good goal recently enough. When you consider it, you'd wonder if both Devenny and Franca - despite not being strikers - would score more goals? Which is pretty damning of Nketiah. I don't think the fans have much patience left for Nketiah. Maybe loan him out next season like the bigger boys would?
From what I have read he is a 10, certainly more of an attacker than a midfielder. To be honest we already play with two who play as 8s defensively and 10s when attacking so I could see Franca dropping into either the left or the right sided of those two roles however I would agree he is not a centre forward, but no reason he couldn’t play alongside Sarr if Mateta is out.

I wonder if there is something behind the scenes with Franca. His best position - on limited viewing - is in Eze's spot so it was surprising he did not get at least 15 minutes on Sunday to ensure Eze did not get injured. Add to that the fact that Ward was chosen over him for the semi-final squad and it all looks a little worrying
For me, on the evidence of his performances in Brazil was his Finishing, pace and Heading, also the timing of his runs, i see him as definitely a centre forward, not a creative player.

We're starting Clyne and recalling Holding to play - just to catch Pep out. I heard it from a guy called Darren who I believe usually shortens his name to Dazza. Pep won't know what's hit him when he sees our team sheet. And, yes, obviously Nketiah will start - but Pep will have worked that out. It'll be 4-4-2 with Lerma as a target man and Eze as an inverted wing back. Henderson's on penalty duty and Richards taking free kicks. But don't tell anyone.

Don't worry. I won't be telling anyone any of that.
