Nketiah

absolute waste of money. Arsenal laughing all the way to the bank.
Same with Brennan, Uche, and Kamada.

Our midfield (including Adam and Will) need look in the mirror and ask where are their goal contributions?

I know it's a hot potato topic but I will always feel playing Kamada is like starting with 10 men. Absolute lightweight and lucky to win an FA cup medal. And before anyone says Im 15 years old, Im not ... Im over 60 and was there at the Burnley game in '79 straight after school at 5pm waiting ...

one of the weakest palace players Ive ever seen.

Id love to see Dougie come back - now that would be an amazing signing !!
(as our Director of Football of course)

You might not be 15, but if you cant see the value that Kamada brings you, well, maybe watch back last nights match.

If you've been around since '79 you would have seen plenty of worse players than the FA cup winner, Europa league winner, German cup winner, Asian team of the year player (x3), Eintracht Frankfurt All-time XI player, 250 top flight appearances, 50 Japanese caps.

Brain dead

Kamada has not been consistently impactful over his 2 years...
But to suggest he is a dreadful player is crazy.

The wage thing has clouded a lot of opinions on him.
And i dont see him being lightweight - if anything he can be a bit rash in the tackle at times!

He has been far from out worst player in the last 2 years and with him and probably Warton both leaving...this is the part of the team that worries me the most ahead of next season

Nketiah is out for the season.
He seems prone to hamstring and muscle injuries.

I suppose his future at the club will partly be determined by who the new manager is.
Does he rate Nketiah and does he fit into his method of playing?

Both he and Franca have been expensive acquisitions and neither have really contributed much through injuries and lack of form.

If they were to be made available in the summer I don't think we'll be making money on the sales.

If the new manager rates a poor center forward who is always on the treatment table, think we will be needing a new new manager.

I can’t think of any area of football that he’s above championship level at?
Maybe his pace wasn’t too bad, before all the injuries?

Surely half of the problem is that he is a centre forward but has only rarely been played in that position with Glasner preferring to use him as a number 10 or winger which he is unsuitable for

Quite possibly. But if he is a centre forward one has to wonder where he would fit into the scheme of things and how the team would adapt tactically to accommodate him in that role. I tend to look at his spell with Arsenal, arguably a stronger side than Palace, and his role within it, where he didn't particularly impress.
I have to wonder why Palace paid what it did for a player who has yet to impress at senior level.

It’s all about personal opinions ….

Mine is simple - waste of money, huge disappointment and quite frankly, feel we should sell him (if we can find a buyer!) and try and get as much as we can, and invest more wisely.
If and when he is fit we might get £10m from a championship club, but the problem is that he is on £90k a week until 2029. No one in their right mind will pay that. So unless we also subsidise his drop in wages he ain’t going anywhere soon.
An awful signing and one where most were complaining before the deal went through.

Would it be too harsh to say that both Nketiah and Johnson show signs of tactical inflexibility?

By this I mean that Nketiah only looks comfortable down the middle as an out and out poacher with little in the way of hold up skills or the ability to consistently link up play.
He doesn’t look at home at all in other positions we have played him.

Johnson has always looked at his most comfortable on the right of a front 3, but can’t play for us there as Sarr has that position sewn up.
He’s had spells in other positions for us but has looked like a fish out of water.

What is unclear is whether it’s due to shortcomings and lack of adaptability of the players ( probably my view), or whether the demands and rigidity of Glasner’s system curtail their ability to show what they are capable of.

I wonder how Zaha and Bolassie at their best would have fared under Glasner.
Both played in all positions across the front line and did well and were quite adaptable.
Whether they would have the discipline that Glasner demands is another matter.
I could see Glasner taking his jacket off and throwing it at the bench if Zaha conceded possession in the wrong areas!

I’m not sure Johnson looked that great playing there for us either when Sarr was out, but maybe if someone makes us an offer we can’t refuse for Sarr in the summer he’ll get a run there next season and we’ll properly see what he’s made of

A shame for him he is injured but honestly doesn’t make a huge difference to us. One because he’s been injured most of the season and two because he is behind lots of players for a place in the team. He would be behind JPM, JSL, Sarr, Johnson, Guessand and Pino.

All in all he’s performed for us exactly as his record suggested he would. That’s to say he’s never secured a regular starting place, doesn’t score that often and gets injured a lot. Clearly has a good attitude but a complete waste of money in fee and wages, which sadly could easily have been predicted based on his career before us.

I’ve always been of the same opinion, even before we bought him I posted on here numerous times that I didn’t rate him and he was hugely over valued. He’s actually been worse than I thought and would have loved for him to move to West Ham in January, as was being mooted…before he picked up yet another injury!

We are really going to struggle to offload Nketiah now with the persistent hamstring injuries. The problem is that once a hamstring goes you are even more prone to do that again and again (for example this is what caused the decline of Michael Owen).

I thought he was a poor choice when we bought him, especially at £25m, looking even worse now.
