We have private lives so 2TK can do one and apple are saying such. Imagine how many people will be off to jail if he got this access.

I have now just bought a second hand iPhone on ebay and, if this is true, am planning on sending outrageous and offensive right-wing texts to all my friends and relatives. That means I will get to spend the last years of my life getting 3 free meals a day, heating & lighting paid for, with free health & dental care, and no washing, ironing and housework to worry about. Not even bother where the prison is!

For once I agree with you. As long as any request is accompanied by a court approved search warrant and is specific e.g. Mr X's iPhone as opposed to everybody's iPhone I have no problem with this. In the US Apple are above the law and have ignored these court mandated search warrants.

If they don't like it they are free to not do business in the UK.

Imagine the police turning up to a council estate with a search warrant for a specific address only to be told by the local council they cannot enter as gaining access to one property would mean the police might be able to gain access to everyone's. I think most of us would say that is rubbish.

That is Apple's argument.

A valid point. Its ludicrous that the State cannot access peoples private messaging. Within 10 years, and with a Far-Right dictatorship is in place, this will enable a LOT of people to be rounded up and put on trial for their treachery.

All in favour of this. Ground work needs to be laid now for the coming purges.

Not sure about the tech but Apple are thowing their toys out of the pram.

Their stuff is high cost and it doesn't take long for the support to expire, doing without them is no problem.

Does it occur to most Americans that their consumers pay the tariffs, not the exporters.

The USA is one gigantic billionaire rip-off it seems to me, mega-garbage AI is not new and as the now more technically advanced Chinese demonstrate it can be open-source and shared.

Yep, I'm suggesting that we need a particularly large holding area for the ugly ones.

The good looking lefties will deserve a second chance.
