A lot???

JP is going, but was replaced in January as we expected him to be gone before his medical failed

Kamada will need replacing, so thats 1 player we absolutely need as it stands. I see no one else leaving this summer without a big bid coming in which would help us replace them anyway. Lerma is a sub, easily replaceable, but no one else is leaving for free or cheap.
There is rampant speculation about other squad players leaving albeit for large sums of money, nobody knows but I certainly do not think it will be one or two.I will tell you with a degree of certainty in September.

Can I also point out that Glasner isn't hanging around managing the team. They go on holiday now and come back beginning of July sometime. Obviously, Glasner and who ever else will not be returning.
Some managers - Pep, Arteta. Just take a week or so and start the planning for next season. Squad, transfers etc.
Aren’t Man City manager-less? No one making a huge song and dance about their tardiness

I think it's relatively easy on paper however the enormity, in terms of risk, for appointing a new manager with the additional complexities that are involved in football are easily overlooked.

I think it would be highly preferable, of course, to have the new guy step in straight away with all transfer activity agreed upon etc however I think that's far from the reality.

Not that I want to discourage anyone from having a good moan, but I think there's far more happening/involved than many of us mere mortals immediately consider.

I couldn’t care less what City, Liverpool or Bournemouth do and I honestly don’t understand why people are making these ridiculous comparisons.

I know he will never receive the credit he deserves from some on here but - we are currently enjoying the best ever period in our history. Not just the trophy laden last 18 months by the way - the longest sustained period in the top flight too. We have NEVER had a better chairman and he has demonstrated that he knows what he’s doing.
He obviously hasn’t got everything right, but his track record thus far, devotion to the club and genuine desire to put the best interests of the club front and centre of his decision making -should at least have earned him the benefit of the doubt when it comes to this appointment.

The clamour from some for quick appointment is just stupid.

The club knew OG was going in Oct 2025.

It's typical Palace they take forever to do anything and leave it to the last minute with most of the options already off the table.

The way it is looking I don't expect us to announce anything until the World Cup is almost over or over.

This Sage fella has done nothing massive gamble reminds me of FDB risk we took and he had a far better CV.

They might have known in October, but the market is fluid. As pointed out, we might have been able to sign up an average candidate, but the great ones will be looking at vacancies across the top clubs.

Our of interest who would you have signed up?

The plaudits for Steve Parish are richly deserved.
I have a deep respect for our Chairman.

It is not my place to decide.

People on the outside do not know what is going on so it would be pointless to flash out names when don't have any information available.

Who can Palace really attract? we can all flash names off but are those people really interested in coming and if they are what are there terms also the club will have its own terms which might be different to what people want.

What OG has done may put people off coming because that is some achievement he has done and how can you equal or better that (You would think the club now should want some form of European football every season but maybe they don't want to compete in likes of Conference again)

I wouldn’t be surprised if Lens are demanding £10m or so given they they have all the power. Chelsea paid Brighton double that for Graham Potter.

Whatever Lens are asking for, even whether it be a lot less than that, the club will be trying to negotiate it down and reduce risk, possibly with the inclusion of add ons. That could take time.

Agree, but surely also pointless to accuse the board of wasting the c.8 months and not prepping for a Glasner replacement?

A lot of the time, the club seems to take forever to get a manager or a player 'over the line'. Most of the time, that patience pays off, although there is always that nagging question, 'What if we'd gotten them sooner?' (This question has not yet arisen for Brennan Johnson.)

It's tough for Parish as our success has probably opened the door to a higher calibre of manager, but likewise, the expectations of everyone connected to the club have also gone up a notch. He's under a lot of pressure to find a manager who can live up to Glasner's legacy while still operating under the parameters of a club our size. I doubt many of us had heard of Sage until a couple of weeks ago, and now we have our faces pressed to the window, wondering why he is not already ruffling Hughes' hair and buying his dinner from Sainsbury's.

I think it’s every football fans divine right to moan and demand more from their club but what Steve Parish has delivered for us, as Palace fans, is f-ing insane. What’s even more insane is when this is seemingly completely forgotten by some.

I really do think the complexity of owning and running a football club, or even something as seemingly routine as appointing a manager, goes far beyond any of our comprehension.

I know how I’d like things to be done but I’m quite content in also knowing there’s a very good reason I am not in charge of these decisions.

COYP - a little bit of faith can get you a long way

Despite having been a French teacher in the dim and distant past, I've taken the easy option with Google Translate:

"While several clubs were interested in Pierre Sage, the RC Lens coach will indeed join Crystal Palace, and everything will speed up in the coming hours, according to our information.

The Pierre Sage saga is coming to an end. Indeed, the RC Lens coach has decided to leave the Artois club after a historic season marked by second place in Ligue 1 and a victory in the Coupe de France.

The destination is now confirmed: Crystal Palace, while other clubs, notably in the Middle East, were interested. The London club, looking for a successor to Oliver Glasner, has made the French coach its priority in recent days. Discussions between the two parties have progressed considerably, and an agreement on personal terms has already been reached, according to our information."

Hopefully, an announcement is imminent if personal terms have indeed been agreed.
I'm betting its the compensation package thats still to be thrashed out with Lens which is holding up any announcement

I am just yet again amazed by the delay here.

We have known we needed a new manager for months yet seem no closer to an appointment. Bournemouth replaced their manager within days of knowing there was a vacancy. Liverpool replaced their manager within a week or so of sacking the last one and we swm to just be drifting along as candidates get other jobs or rule themselves out.

There was understandable criticism last year when we won the FA cup and did not push on. We have now won another cup and again now is a time we can push on but without a manager we will simply drift.

Our success last season was because of Glasner not as Parish is such a brilliant chairman and without as good a leader we will just be back to treading water.
What a load of rubbish. Glasner only left just over a week ago. Palace held hopes that we may get Iraola (and possibly might have done if Liverpool hadn't sacked Slot) which is why we were waiting on him. Palace have moved on very quickly to our no.2 on the shortlist and if reports are to be believed everything is agreed bar the compensation Lens will get. Hardly drifting when the Conference trophy has barley arrived in South London!
