I wondered if any had been poached/ tapped up as usual?I understand it is policy to select the youngest players , add in all the comings-and-goings plus injuries etc. msakes it difficult to have a consistent winning outfit.
So I think he has done very well, and his first season includes a PL Cup trophy win over Man Utd.

Surely you are thinking of Peter Taylor and Alan Whittle. Whittle scored the Rothman’s (fooball’s Wisden) 1976 Goal of the Year against First Division Sunderland in the FA Cup assisted by Taylor, the best right winger in the Country. Two short players but what footballers!Anybody else recall Possee and Whittle?
Not the best Palace pairing up front, but probably the shortest.
Allison liked physical players so in a way it was surprising that he went down this route.
Both Whittle and Possee were pacy and skilful but they could be dominated by opposing centre backs and sometimes barely touched the ball in games.
I wonder what Sage likes and expects from front players and whether our current crop fit the bill for him.

When he wanted to sign a small, skinny player called Vince Hilaire, Allison told Ron Noades to ask not is he big enough but is he good enough! Size didn’t really matter to him.

It is Sunday, in all fairness. And he met up with us less than a week ago. Although there had been previous contact. It's all gone a bit quiet on the Sage front. If we were talking to him this time last week as reported, I'd have thought he'd be announced by now if he got the job. Perhaps he didn't quite press the right buttons for the board?
