Liverpool appoint Iraola,in a matter of days and Bournemouth were very swift in their appointment of his replacement,Rose.

Palace have had since October and to date,no appointment, just speculation.

Hardly impressive.
I kind of agree ...unless of course the club genuinely had Iraola lined up until Liverpool came calling.

It was banded about a week or two ago that ireola wanted the liverpool job. I think his people were putting it out there ane when liverpool became aware of this and that he may go to bayer levurkuson they then acted before it was too late.

But so true to form. We seem to do everything last minute. No wonder Glasner went. Couldn't stand the indecisions.

It does stagger me that the new manager was not unveiled at the start of the month. The board have had 7 months to have sorted this. Sometimes the board just appear to make life harder than it needs to be.

Why must we leave everything until the last minute. You can see this going right down to the wire again, missing good candidates as other clubs pick up contenders and missing out on players because they have no idea who they will be playing for or how they will be playing. A very strange way to run things.

Sage likes youth so who’s to say SP hasn’t had a chat and sage is happy with the academy prospects and not losing 1st teamers we have. We do have one of the best academies apparently.

Yup but in fairness to the board:

Our targets may have been under contract and their clubs told us not to make waves whilst the season was ongoing (and we respected that).

We may have had a specific target in mind who has since changed his mind and gone to Liverpool (back to square 1)

We didn't fancy any of the available managers so chose to wait until the end of the season to see what's out there.

Parish has shown previously that he is prepared to take his time getting the right manager. If we get Sage and he is a success this "empty" period will soon be forgotten.

A well-reasoned and insightful contribution to the debate.
There are a rucksack of variables in terms of selecting and finally appointing a manager, the whole process can be of labyrinthine complexity with more twists and turns than an Isle of Man TT race.

Exactly this.

I never can understand why ppl think everything is so easy.

A couple of weeks ago Liverpool still has Slot, and we may have been negotiating for Iraola. Thats now all changed. Things sound like they are progressing with Sage, but he's under contract, so his exit needs to be negotiated.

But Sage also wouldn't have been an option 6 months ago, its only now that he's become hot property.

Agreed. Even if Lens are happy to let him go like most clubs they have to manage his exit to placate the fans. So you leak the news then delay so by the time it actually happens the fans have got used to the idea and are baying at the Lens board when are we getting a new manager.

Clubs do this all the time with players. If this wasn't high profile I expect we could have agreed a deal with board and manager days ago (we probably have).

It’s not just the manager we are hiring. Most of Glasner’s coaching team will have gone as well so arrangements have to be made for replacements the Club and manager are happy with. I expect Paddy will stay unless he is eying a managerial job.
