Keane still favorite with the bookies , no real money seems tobe going on anyone , so they are still buying money , I reckon before the city game we may have a better idea who it is

Bournemouth managed to get Marco Rose snapped up and announced. He’s hardly the dregs of the barrel, and I’m sure he would have had other suitors to consider. They didn’t let that get in the way.

It may be true if the next manager is coming straight out of another club, but he doesn’t have to be employed right now to be a desirable and suitable candidate.
Yes, Bournemouth have got their man already. Fair play to them, but that doesn't mean they are on the ball and we are not.

Rose was obviously happy to commit to them now. Bournemouth obviously felt the same. Perhaps one or both will end up feeling that they missed out on something better by committing early. Perhaps not. Point is, that particular manager was content to commit early when a lot of good ones will not be. I'm sure Bournemouth did all they could to entice him, but that's not the same as not letting anything get in their way. How decisive and determined the club are will make a difference, but they can't compel a manager to sign up. Not having someone confirmed already is not necessarily a display of indecisiveness or lack of forward planning.

There are of course some good managers out of work right now, who we could be approaching. Perhaps we have. Thing is, the list of realistic candidates who are good enough is not a long one to begin with. If you narrow it down to those available for talks right now then it gets a lot shorter (of the 11 names in the poll, for example, only three are out of work right now, four if you count Schmidt who has a job but not as a coach). If you then narrow it down further to those who will commit right now then the list may well get shorter still. What we gain in certainty we lose in options. There isn't a right way to do it.

Glasner was lined up very early, so its not like Palace don't know how to do it or don't like to do it that way. There are lots of sensible reasons not to have someone under contract by now, though.

Maybe the club have already got someone lined up, we just don't know, but they wouldn't want to announce it yet if they have, as the focus has to be 100% on winning the Conference league. I don't think anything will be done until after our very last game of the season, but what do I know!

Not wasting anything time are they? Whereas I expect us to announce a day before the new season starts.
Rose enjoyed his greatest successes years ago at RB Salzburg (where they were virtually unchallenged in the Austrian league), whilst in the years that followed he more or less failed to live up to expectations. Good luck to Bournemouth with him. I reckon we could still find a manager with a track record like Rose’s even on the day before the season kicks off.

Alot of noise now around whether Eddie Howe will still be at Newcastle next season.

If Howe were sacked, would he come to Palace ?
I am guessing he would want a bigger club than us, after managing Newcastle.

I've been hearing about the Motherwell manager who's name I don't know, getting his boys playing the best football in the jock league in light years.
Apparently it's all down to his coaching and man management skills.
I just wonder if he's that good, what he could do with better players at his disposal?
They're raving about him in Scotland and its not just fan's it's ex professionals too.

I can't stand him. It is perhaps one of my more irrational dislikes and is purely to do with his face. I just don't like it. It's like he's short-sighted, lost his glasses, and is constipated, all rolled into one.

All true. Plus I don’t like his style of football at Newcastle - dirty, cynical, time wasting. Don’t want him anywhere near us.

Jens Berthel Askou, a centre-half signed by Bryan Gunn when he was manager of Norwich.

You aren’t being serious are you? Andy Woodman has done wonders at Bromley, but i wouldn’t want him managing Palace.
