Next 4 games.

Getting stuffed by us was obviously the wake up call they needed. Sadly I agree with Willo, we’re going to see a different Villa at Wembley

Yeah but we've hardly been in a slump ourselves. Four wins, a draw and a loss since then. Villa are certainly no mugs but neither are we, it could go either way and we're definitely not without a good chance of progression.

Looking at the Citeh game, I wonder if OG isn't just going to husband the squad before the big semi. For all the reasons that were given re Mats coming off, I wonder if the manager just wants to keep him uninjured and ticking over but fresh.

In the same vein, I was surprised Hughsie didn't start but Yamada did. I wonder, here, if they want to keep him fresh, uninjured, out of the book but fit.

I was astounded when Mats came off for Hughsie: no striker? Extraordinary.

That did start me wondering about the above scenario. There's balance between keeping the players fit but lessening the risk of one or two players being ruled out of the semi, through injury, or maybe a sending off.

Am I being silly thinking any of this?

For me, our strongest team would be Hendo; Richards, Max and Guehi; Munoz, Adam Hughsie and Tyrick across the middle: Sarr with Eze and Mats up front.

If we are able to put that side out, we are well capable of beating the Villains. They're in fantastic form and I'd like them to keep on winning and for us to look 'out of form' going into the match. I relish the underdog role with Palace.

It will be fascinating to see the league match teams that he puts out between now and Wembley. Will we see more rotation?

It's so weird: my life seems to be on hold, waiting for the match.

I've got it bad.
Likewise, although I have not seen JP identified as "Mats" before.

And suspensions from the League don't apply to the Cup.

However, I am moving to the point where I can't get the semi final out of my mind... and that is where I will be by the 26th!

Just think of the fevered frenzy of we win. Ooh, my ageing heart...

Yeah, sorry; ever since he joined the club, in our many long chats about Palace me and my brother have always referred to him as 'Mats'.

Red cards too?

I keep telling myself that it's a one-off game and all that but I'm dreading news of an injury, you know?

I honestly think we will beat Villa. We’re not PSG but Villa are vulnerable to the counter attack especially down the wings. If our back 3 remember how to defend, we will score goals against them.

Looking at it from the Villa perspective. Before the semi they have key games against CL chasing rivals Newcastle (home) and Man City (away) the Tuesday before Wembley. Emery will want a top 5 CL place and is likely to be playing full strength teams in those games. They have a big squad it's true and can rotate.
4 Points off Toon and Bournemouth then we can bin off the Arsenal game. Got my ticket to the Emirates and hope to see Nketiah, Kamada, Turner, Kporha, Franca and the subs playing in that. Can't risk anyone important for that especially with 2.5 days rest for Wembley.

Villa looked good last night I thought, and fought back well after going 2-0 down.

Having been knocked out of Europe they will be going gung-ho for the Cup. It'll be a proper match at Wembley so we have to trust Ollie to get our tactics right.
