Newcastle Predictions

I guess most of us are expecting a challenging few matches ahead, but take heart that we'll be back to a fairly full squad (ie best 13?) before month end. In the meantime a massive cheer for all those brave souls who've made the annual pilgrimage to Geordie land. I've never been but can remember freezing my nuts off in winter games at the old Goldstone ground. For them more than me I hope we don't lose.

Its a long way home, especially if we lose.

The way they play, they haven't kept a clean sheet in the PL since mid-September (vs Wolves!). So, I think we should have opportunities to score - just hope they don't get more.

Will our southern softies survive the freezer that will be St James Park this afternoon? I fear not and expect a similar result to previous years with the score being ?-0 and the ? won't be 0.

be interesting the see the team, Lerma alongside Wharton, Canvot at the back, Pino and Devenny have to play deep to protect our wing backs, so lots of long balls up to an isolated Mateta and the ball coming straight back. In this game we'll miss Nketiah's pace bcos we need to make our breaks count - I can see Johnson getting half an hour replacing Mateta. Try to get to half time 0-0 then use BJ to get a smash and grab. 7/10 a home win looks a pro bet - should be 1/5. What odds would you take us for a win, we're 9/2 - I wouldn't bet on us under 10/1.

Yes good luck to them, I had a nose bleed going as far as Southampton last season 🤣
The only time I’ve been to Newcastle away Gazza scored the only goal of the game, that’s how long ago it was

Bad result , but lots of positives , did feel like a strange match to watch , both teams found the pitch hard to get a grip with , lots of stray passes ,
Got to say there corners was very hard to defend against pace and curl ,
Wharton was hit and miss , Pino was the same , we missed our chances , Johnson to early to make judgement, , Canvot done well when coming on , Mateta has lost some of his strength and pace , kids coming on looked fresh in there cameos , think we done enough to get a draw out of the game , hughes played well , felt sorry for lerma he was very wobbly when standing , villa next hope our hex over them continues

This is a free hit for us. We get Johnson starting and we know we will get results once we are at full strength so a decent encouraging performance and no more injuries will do for me.
For a while now, I have thought that we'll go on a run of wins after a bad run in this part of the season. By February we will have a better, fitter squad.
