New Manager Planning

Given the comments from Glasner at weekend, the smart money would be on him leaving at the end of the season when he is out of contract.

I honestly can't see anything being done in January to convince him to stay. He has seen his requests ignored and likely to be ignored again the future (it's what happens almost every transfer window - leave it the last day and hope for the best).

That being said, we should really be looking at possible new managers in the background - no idea who personally.

I can just see us get to summer and Parish desperately trying to convince Glasner to stay, which becomes a fruitless exercise after weeks, leaving us with a month or so to get a new manager and signings

Once again, starting the season unprepared.

Glasner for me is the Emperors new clothes, i would like Thomas Frank, if he is available, there would be no new contract for Glasner, i am sick of his one dimensional play, and hissy fits, big girls blouse.

I think it's highly unlikely Glasner will stay.

The January transfer window is likely to be an indication of whether Parish wants to back the current man or keep his powder dry for the next one.

As for a new man - well, Leroy Rosenior has a lot of plus points.

Could go down the brentford route? Promote from within. It might be time for Paddy McCarthy to step into management either with us or a championship level club.

He's been assistant manager for some time now under different managers?

I opined some while ago that I would be surprised if Glasner is at the helm next season.
I suspect that Parish is either fully aware of his intentions or knows which way the wind is blowing.
I very much suspect that the 'Succession Planning' button has been pressed.

Looking ahead to next season, I believe Glasner will be gone and Guehi will be at 'Pastures new'.
There is every chance that Mateta will join the exodus along with Munoz. Wharton will also be sought after by bigger clubs.
All change !

A couple of names who might be worthy of consideration.

Kieran McKenna (if Ipswich don't get promoted).
Michael Carrick

Trouble is, I can see Parish and Co looking at Southgate (heaven forbid).

I think a young manager - Rosenior a decent shout. I'd see that as looking to use young players. If we'd rather be tough to beat then perhaps Popovic or McKenna. I don't think McCarthy which is perhaps unfair of me. But I'd like him to stay for the continuity.

I'll be surprised if he stays but I do think the press conference was more about protecting the players rather than attacking the board.

Managers are never happy, they all work under constraints they dont want to, it doesn't mean they dont love the job they're doing.

We will find out in January, he either gets backed heavily and signs a new contract or it becomes pretty clear he will be leaving, I'll be gutted if he goes but it gives the club 6 months to identify his replacement, we're still a massively attractive job to most managers out there.

Brentford appointed Assistant Manager, Thomas Frank when Dean Smith departed.
He did have previous managerial experience at Brondby whom he led to 3rd and 4th place finishes on the back of an impressive win percentage.
In actual fact, Frank lost 8 of his first 10 games in charge at Brentford but the board were rewarded for not wielding the axe.

Look it's already been decided ready for the new seasoned Ollie is off to Liverpool with Marc and Roy is dusting off that bench jacket .
Parish will decide we have a decent 11 and we will dream of a new stand.....

We looked jaded on Sunday and it is clear now that we should have added players in the summer but as usual we waited and waited and got no one......

We did sign Benitez, Sosa, Canvot, Pino and Uche (Loan).
Supporters might have different opinions as to the transfer activity !

Of the names mentioned Thomas Frank would be my choice.
Spurs has been difficult for him to date, but nobody can manage that club properly since the days of Bill Nicholson.

I said it before after the awful summer window he is gone.

He was vocal then and a little slip after one of the early europa games he wasn't happy with squad.

OG is spot on we keep seeing this Tex even said it.

We have money it should be used.

I agree it seems unlikely now given Glasner's decision to speak out. As a boss myself disappointment would be an understatement if someone that worked for me went moaning to others and didn't come to me and discuss 'in house'. This is my only criticism of OG and tbf, how do any of us know he didn't strongly articulate his views to Parish in private? Though a few weeks back he did say he was happy with the size of his squad, even going on to say that bringing in too many senior players blocks off a pathway to the first team for the youth prospects we have. Spouting the party line? Or maybe he believed that at the time and has since changed his mind.
If the owners really want to keep Glasner we will see a couple of eyebrow raising transfers in January but I doubt it. As you say, I'd expect little activity and prehaps a big clear out in the summer with a new man coming in.
This in my view would be a massive missed opportunity to grow into a regular top 10 or top 8 team. As mentioned by others the Venables team of the 80s era as well as the early 90s era were both big opportunities missed to move up a level and this would be equally disappointing. The only big positive is we have two trophies to show for it this time.
Regardless of what happens in the future I will always be grateful to Oliver Glasner for that
