Munoz

I would be surprised if Munoz goes to either of the PL clubs mentioned so far. I would have thought that at his age, he'd be looking for a move to a big European club competing in the Champions League or at least in the same competition as us. His performance in the WC put him in the shop window. If, as is being rumoured, we are prepared to sell him for £25m this window, then I would expect one of the Euro giants to come knocking in the coming days.
I hope you're right !

Yep. I cant see a world in which he moves to Forrest or Everton. Its sideways at best. And we have European footie.

With the move to us, he got the chance to move to to the top league in the world and showcase his ability. And as a bonus won a few trophies.

The next move has to be to a top club.

I recognise the positive contribution Munoz has made at our club and at approx £7 Mill + sell-on, he has proved to be an inspired purchase.
In my opinion last season we did not witness the best version of Munoz and his knee injury could have been a contributory factor, not forgetting the passage of time - he has turned 30.
I will be surprised if he is of interest to elite clubs.

I agree. After injury he looked like he’d lost a little bit of pace and is now beyond his peak. If we could get a nice fee for him I’d let him go.

Caveat that this could be BS, but looks like Munoz to Everton is gathering speed and just depends on Everton green lighting it, not us standing in the way.

I thought i was the only one who thought last year he was not as good and lost a yard
That was my take on other threads but didn't go down very well. He is my favorite current player so hopefully an objective viewpoint.

The alternatives last year were Clyne, Johnson and U21 players so we badly missed his presence in the side. I thought it was Glasner who put the handbrakes on DM in the latter part of the season but maybe it was the injury and engine starting to affect him.

That said very happy for him to stay (if he wants to), but also happy to role the new dice with Mingeza (27), Gozo (19) and Khalaili (21) and Cardines (20) next year after hopefully 30 odd games in the Championship.

Well,what a bargain!!

We tend to pay high and sell much too low, this being the case with Munoz, apparently being very much in demand.

Is it? He's 30.

Anyone who buys him is doing so in the knowledge there there is no resale value there.

Wiki said we paid £6.6 million for him. If so selling for over £20m is pretty good business.

Good money and recoup the £15 we lost on Johnson. Munoz has been great and has a couple of years left in the tank, but he is not at his peak of 2025. If money is no object then keep him another year and phase in a new right back when he inevitably gets injured in December. Players have to constantly be recycled. Its difficult to know when to cash in to allow purchase of replacements. Mistakes will be made. There are not many Mitchells around who are good enough but just below the radar of the big clubs that we get to keep them for ten years.

Irrespective of his age, I don't think we can afford to sell another top quality player this season.
We have already lost Eze, Guehi and Lacroix. We are pushing our luck as it is. Munoz and Wharton have to stay at this time round.
Business is one thing, but relegation must be avoided at all costs.

we didn't lose money on johnson. The £15m we paid spurs was the £15m we would've paid for mcneil and the other £15m + £5m in add-ons that we still owed was taken on by everton who will pay spurs when it is due.

Unless you mean the £110k a week we wasted paying the useless idiot!!

I am reminded of a supporter who texted me a few weeks ago messaging that as a club we simply cannot progress to the "Next Level", we might have fleeting successes in that direction but it will not be lasting.
To him, avoiding relegation is all that matters and he believed that the club should have appointed Sean Dyche an experienced PL manager rather than someone with far less managerial experience and who has joined our club on the back of a single season success in France albeit a highly impressive one.

A manager with no Premier League experience is always a risk, but this one has done wonders at Lens.
Let's hope he is more Glasner than de Boer.

He won't succeed if we keep selling our best players, unless we replace them with better ones.

I think it’s an accepted fact that if relegation becomes a possibility then Steve Parish acts accordingly and takes the necessary steps to avoid it. It’s worked so far.

Your supporter friend needs to get his head around the fact that between the Premier League and UEFA they are making it nigh on impossible to compete with the top clubs.

After the last couple of years, appointing Dyche would have been running up the white flag in terms of ambition.

I don't go with the 'we can never become a big club' angle.

I'm not going to criticise people who think that, but I just think it misses a couple of points.

Since Parish and co took over in 2010. We have already become massively bigger as a club. There are metrics showing that. It's really a fairy-tale story of long success that many football people around the world point at.

Also, If you as a club show that you consistently make good decisions and punch above your weight then you become more attractive to investors. If Parish continues to keep us competing and we get that stand built.....We really have the chance of becoming a bigger London club and attracting investment.

Man City use to be the small brother of Man U and more like Villa as a club....they hit the jackpot.....Also, I think big foreign investors made a mistake choosing Newcastle and probably recognise that now.

I think we stand a very realistic chance of attracting interest in the coming years.
