Munoz

I think if you look at it as a job any of us would consider better Ts and Cs and wages. At least he’s honest and with his quality that should be his aim to get to a top club. We are a good club but way down the food chain compared to some.

I think it’s ridiculous that players still put Man Utd in the list of clubs.

I love Daniel Munoz but I find it kind of disrespectful to our fans to read these comments from him whilst on international duty

“First of all, I think there’s a lot of talk about one club or another. If you ask me, it would be a dream come true to play for one of these clubs, whether it’s Barcelona, PSG, Real Madrid, or Manchester United,” said Munoz in an interview with AS Colombia.

“I think I’m working towards that; I strive every day to one day attract the attention of one of these clubs, because it’s a dream of mine to get there,” he added.

“Right now I’m focused on my club, on doing things well at Crystal Palace. If you ask me, I don’t have any concrete information that any of these clubs are interested in me,” said Munoz.

“My focus is on Crystal Palace; we’ll see when the winter transfer window gets closer. Right now, I’m fully focused on these two matches with the national team,” he added.

I am not naive in thinking that our best players will play for us for their whole careers but I don't like a player effectively saying "Come and get me!". This is in strict contrast to Adam Wharton who refused to talk about transfer speculation in the summer.

You’re right Casual, that’s the most shocking thing about his statement 🤣

As for the statement in general, he’s one of our best players, no surprise really that the elite clubs would be sniffing around and no surprise if his head is turned. But one thing about Munoz, is anyone in any doubt while he’s still here that he’ll still keep giving his all for the palace shirt as he’s done from day one?

Is he not saying it would have to be one of those clubs to lure him?

I found his statement refreshingly honest.
The ambition in his statement is reflected in his whole persona.
100% committed in every game , apparently the best trainer at the club, never shirks after international breaks.
As the ultimate professional why shouldn’t he want to play at the highest level?
He’s not disrespected Palace in any way, and I believe he signed a new contract last season which was warranted after his Player of the Season performances.
If he’s signed a new contract he’s not busting a gut to get away in any event.
It only becomes an issue if a major club bids and we find it an acceptable bid.

Putting my objective hat( as opposed to Palace hat) I would say he just falls a little short of elite quality.
In energy and drive he’s as good as any out there.
Quick, decent in the air and relentless.
However, his delivery of the ball is mixed and he doesn’t always stop the crosses defensively.
Brilliant for Palace, perhaps not clinical enough for Real Madrid.

Yep, not nice to read.

But its the reality. He's also nearly 30, so if he's going to get a move its going to have to be soon.

I think the sensible amongst will realise that every player has their sites playing for the best teams/arenas in the world.

If anything, we have been an incredible move for Munoz. He has achieved an amazing amount in such a short period of time. Dare I say it, a cult hero already!

However, at his age, if one more ‘big’ opportunity did come his way, then do you really blame him for wanting to explore this further??

Munoz needs to keep his fuckin big trap shut and get on with helping his club and his country.
Let's have it right here, there was no queue forming at his door when he was in Columbia or Holland for that matter so he's best off remembering that and things will take care of themselves.
Similarly I feel he has had a slice of luck in slotting in to a system that helps him shine in another system he might not be quite as good.

At Genk, Munoz contributed 19 goals and 20 assists despite being deployed primarily as a right-back.
You forgot to mention over 148 matches .

Yesterday on the Wolves prediction thread, i posted about Munoz leaving Columbia's training camp due to 'personal reasons', well seems it is true & he's gone back home to deal with a 'family emergency' Where to, it's not clear . . .

Have to remember Munoz comes from Columbia where his upbringing and experiences are likely to be different. No issue with him wanting to better himself and make most of his career. As long as he gives 100% every time pulls on a place shirt that’s all I ask
