There is always some slight risks to some with everything but the MNRA route offered a fast and effective way to produce worldwide protection from a virus which until then had NOTHING that limited it.

That was then validated by it’s real world uptake. It worked.

That though doesn’t stop the determined sceptics thinking they were right.
