Mobile Phone Networks & Selhurst

Mrs needs to replace her mobile handset as it's playing up but was also wondering if anyone actually gets a signal from O2 in or around Selhurst on match day (as she doesn't and thinks it's the handset - I think it's the network as I'm with O2 and also struggle to get a signal).

Do any of the providers get decent signals in the area on match day?

I use my data allowance within Selhurst Park and have no problem getting the internet - I'm with Lebara who I believe run off the Vodafone network but I had problems with my old phone (Samsung Galaxy A10) also on Lebara, which simply wasn't powerful enough. My new one (Samsung Galaxy A26) as I say works fine in the ground. Hope that helps.

I was on a Giffgaff £10 a month contract and the signal at Selhurst was appaling. From about 2pm it just went down. I decided to upgrade and am now on £12 a month O2.... Pretty much the same. I half suspect they throttle the network speeds of cheapskates like me to prioritise those with the £50 contracts but i have no proof!!!!! I do see others checking the scores midmatch and they seem to get signal whereas i just get a blank screen

I don't think the issue is restricted to SP. It can happen at any large venue. Even the large providers share facilities (masts). This can occur in London. As to whether this happens in SE25, I've no clue.
Probably a first world problem. I try to enjoy my kids inability to contact me.

It's not Giff Gaff but the mobile network they are piggybacking on I believe it's 02. So 02 clients will have priority over Giff Gaff, normally this will not matter but at mass events it does.

Then add to the mix how good the coverage for that network is in that particular spot. Not all networks are equal.

There is a phone mast at Selhurst Park however it doesn't cope with the number of supporters that attend matches so ultimately fails as the stadium fills up pre-match. 5G is available for the sight impaired match commentary users.
CPISA have raised the issue with the club as this needs addressing, but it will take extra investment to upgrade the ground to 5G. Hopefully this can be done as part of the main-stand development.

The sheer number of users seems likely to be the problem.
