Membership

Last season I went to get tickets to the Liverpool home game. For the first 30 minutes the page just wouldn't load and I was trying to contact the box office to find out why. No answer so I emailed. When the site came back up the tickets were sold out. Two days later the box office emailed back saying there had been a technical fault. I was told by somebody that a bunch of touts (presumably with memberships???) had spammed the page which took it down.

In other words, as long as you want to go to a game against someone the touts can't sell tickets for you should be golden.

I would also say the club's admin is awful. Last season they forgot to give me my club shop discount, loyalty points and reflect me as having membership on the ticket page. I contacted them to report those three issues and they said "sorry, we have applied your membership discount now". I had to email back and say "what about the other two things?" and they replied saying "oh sorry, we have applied your loyalty points now". I didn't bother emailing a 3rd time but managed to get tickets later in the season so that must have panned out. A system whereby you have to drip feed emails for each of the promised benefits seems pretty inefficient to me.

Also, whilst you didn't ask about this, I would caution anyone about the kids membership. They promised a birthday card for my son each year and for the first four years didn't send one, the next year I got one 2 months after his birthday and it was totally blank inside. I didn't even tell him it had come! They also used to send the membership out in November well after the season had started but now they send a voucher for the shirt/kit I think that has improved.

Anyway, League Two standard admin from a Premier League club.

I haven’t really paid attention to the loyalty points.

I have just renewed for next year and seen you should get 250 points. Now looking at my points and if it’s been like like every season I think im missing over a 1500 points easily

Does anyone know if it has always been 250 points per season?

You can see in the account history of the points were added.

If they have not just email the box office.

Should be 200 or 250 I think yeah. One season I qualified for 250 points and my balance was literally changed to 250 rather than them being added to my existing balance. To be fair I emailed and said I thought I had about 2,100 points deleted. They apologised and gave me exactly 2,100 points back which makes me wonder whether I ought to have claimed I had roughly 10,000
 
In the middle of last season, they scrapped the +1 for gold membership. Do you reckon they will reinstate it? Otherwise it's difficult to go with a friend who doesn't have membership
 
How has people's experience of the gold membership of getting away tickets in the ballot?

Looking to get one for potentially the European games, sounds like Home games are fine but would be interested in how successful the away ballot is.

Haven't had membership before but was a long time season ticket holder with my son. Looking at getting a membership for all my family but not sure of the difference.
I won't be needing it for the bigger games as I know tickets will be on a point system??? but want to take my youngest to a few games with his brothers and hopefully convert him from being a Man City fan (no idea where he found his love of them from, probably the trophies)

Am I good with standards or do I need to upgrade to gold?

I think the 72hrs lead time with Gold is probably the answer, particularly if you're looking to sit a small number together. As you say little chance with bigger games.
 
From experience I'd say Gold membership gives you a chance of a group of 2 or 3 seats together for Cat B games and ALMOST zero chance of Cat A tickets (restricted view only)

Normal membership would probably give you a chance of individual seats for Cat B games.

For guidance, last season me and a mate (I am Gold, he is non-member) went to the Fulham game. I was online the moment tickets went on sale to members and all they had in the entire stadium was restricted view if we wanted to sit together. We paid £55 each and about 5% of the pitch was obscured by the AW roof.

Looking at the amount of tickets available to buy under a membership I would say there's no chance of this being reinstated.
 
Has anyone been double charged for their membership? I purchased a membership and was charged last week and had another sum for the same amount come out my account again from the club last night!

This actually happened last season too!
