Maxence Lacroix - analysis

A couple of times I’ve noticed him going over to people in the main stand at the end for a chat, family or friends presumably. But he seems happy to just generally hang around and talk to people. Seems genuinely to have bought into it here at Palace. And, as others have said, he is a really good player and an upgrade on Andersen.

What a great buy. Was geeing the crowd up yesterday, even after the game , when he’d gone off injured. Loved it , with him at the back and JPM upfront winding everyone up.
The way he took the ball when he got injured, no way he wasn’t winning that.
Think Max was doing an audition to be captain next season.

He’s certainly a warrior, which is not always something you can say about French players, the dirty seaweed sucking bastards tried their best to cripple him yesterday as well 😡
While this is true France have also had some proper warriors. Thuram was absolutely hard as nails. Desailly was a rock and then of course there are Viera and Deschamps in midfield.

Fair point and I know it was a sweeping generalisation from myself, you don’t win major international tournaments without having a tough spine through the team as well as ability.
I think when I first see Lacroix start of the season I wasn’t expecting him to be the tough grafter who’ll sweat blood for the shirt type of player, but add that to being so strong in the tackle and in the air and his turn of pace he’s turned into one of our best signings in recent years

Absolutely. Skillfull, athletic, strong and passionate without losing his head. Everything you want in a player

He's proving to be a shrewd purchase with a very good all round game.

The only weakness I can spot is that occasionally he gets too tight to his opponent in his eagerness to win the ball meaning he either gets rolled or the ball slips through to other forwards.

Something to beware of in the semi final if he gets too tight to Watkins allowing the ball to slip through to the very impressive Morgan Rogers, who in my view is a better player than the much hyped Bellingham.

Looked dire at the start of the season. I watched him live in both the cup games vs Norwich and QPR and he looked slow, unfit and had a heavy first touch. Looked well out his depth.

Since then however, he'd been absolutely awesome... strong, quick, physical, wins every header, confident on the ball. Certainly looks an upgrade on Andersen and being younger we'll hopefully get a few more good years out of him. Player of the season contender along with JPM, Hendo and Hughes.
