Maybe people should hold off laying into JP when he hasn't said or done anything wrong. All we have is media noise. Plenty of players have said they want to join bigger clubs in the past (most famously with us was probably Zaha) but it has to be right for the club. So long as they are professional and perform to their abilities who cares if they go to bed dreaming of another club? Marc wanted to leave, but he acted professionally. We all forgot about it pretty quickly once the season started. If JP stays and starts scoring again will anyone really care if he wants to leave?

Do we need to look at how we negotiate contracts??

Say we sign a player on a 5 year deal, Offer a new 2 year extension contract when there are 3 years remaining. if it isn't signed during that year sell them with 2 years remaining?

That assumes there is a buyer willing to pay a decent fee.

There have been lots of clickbait stories about this or that club wanting JPM however as far as I am aware the club has not received a serious offer.

If we are offered what is deemed very good money for JP and given his current form I say move him on.

He is 29 now isn’t he? A last big chance perhaps for JP. He has had as others say a great 1.5 seasons. Now time for us to bring someone in younger for less and develop them.

Yeah I get this wouldn't work with players like Ahamada, Franca but it would work with players who are attracting interest
