Mateta

Think he and his team need a reality check

Was awful for the first 2 years until OG came in.

Also sulked at the start of last season and wouldn't kick the flag because we hadn't started talks over a new deal.

We offer a new deal of around £100k but he wanted £170k per week which wouldn't offer so now he wants to jump. no inside info on these figures just what I have read

Sounds like this is something his agent is pushing hard for his "Pay Day"

That's agents' raison d'aitre - pushing for a pay day.
I see it as a game of brinkmanship between the club and Mateta.
The club hold the cards in that Mateta is still under contract with an option running until 2027
On the other hand Mateta knows if the club want to realise value on him it probably has to be in the next 6 months or so.
Sadly the football becomes incidental in all this as the game increasingly resembles a set of balance sheets.

It's all mad: a player wanting a pay rise the equivalent of 3X/4X many people's annual wages isn't going to garner much sympathy. Even so, as previously stated, I can see that he'd be cheesed off with Nketiah getting twice as much.

100 % but Eddie should never of been on that to begin with.

JP should be £100K-£110k, If he wants to leave show some respect and wait till the summer, not with 9 days left in the window.

Get what we can for him while he’s still worth something, because if he carries on the rest of the season like he has been the last few months, his value will go down in the summer. I know he’s supposed to be carrying an injury but he’s looked laboured for months now. Shame, but it’s boooooom and good bye for me and time for Uche to get his run in the team

Sarr can play in the middle. So can Johnson apparently.

So many want to leave including Mateta, and our Manager.
Surely, best to let them go as we want personnel who want to be at the Club ??

If we sell JP and don't get a replacement in then we are in real danger of being dragged into a relegation fight. We've scored 23 goals this season. JP has 8 of them. Guehi has two and is joint third-highest scorer in the squad! Even though he's not scoring of late, JP still plays a big role in the way we are playing. The idea that we rely on Uche is a huge gamble, as aside from one moment of brilliance against a league one level Irish team, he has looked like an excitable puppy who has no idea where he is supposed to be. Nketiah is still out for a while.

If JP wants to go to the World Cup he can't afford to down tools, so if the move doesn't happen I can't see him sulking. If we get £40 million and an immediate replacement who fits our squad and is ready to start then fine, but if we get a teenager with 'promise' then I think I might start wearing an 'abandoned' t-shirt to games!

Just sell him, Sarr, Uche or Johnson can play CF, i don't know if Nketiah is out for the season, keep the 30m for the new manager, don't want Players or Managers that don't want to be there.
Spot on
Loved Eze Guehi and love Ollie and JP forever Palace legends and will always get my applause before a game against them but to be honest if they didn't/don't want to be at the club then they can f*** off with my best(not) wishes. We'll get by if Parish etc dip into their deep pockets. Sorry but that's how I feel. And pleeeeaase not Lampard!!!!
