Mateta

he still hasnt signed a contract has he? if he wont sign a new contract & we got offered somewhere in tue region of £40m then we should probably sell him, the past 12 months hes turned it around in spectacular fashion, but hes not irreplaceable, and eddie could step up.

i dont want him to go, but if it meant keeping others then it would make sense whilst his stock is high

Hope he does step up if given the chance but I'd be a lot more confident if anyone was thinking of offering £40 m for him as well.

We did trigger the one year extension option and he said he was happy and started kicking the corner flags again (which he had stopped doing as a form of protest/sulk).

hes also not shyed away from voicing his personal goals of playing for france & champs league football so i assume he will have 1 more decent move in his career as we cant offer regualar european football let alone champs league…i would hate to lose him for nowt if he ran down his contract!

he hasnt had a regular run of games since joining tbf, mainly due to JP’s form, i think weve seen enough to know the ability is there.
I'm not knocking him; it should be an advantage that he and JPM have different ways of playing and his enthusiasm is notable. Maybe we just haven't found the best way of playing to his strengths.

Eddie can’t step up I’m afraid. He’s 2 Bob.

He suits our system so well and Eddie has shown that he definitely can't step up. If that's what £30m and £90k a week buys you we will be in trouble if he goes for 'only' £40m.

I would keep him for another year and reassess in 12 months.

Another factor is whether Eze stays or not. He creates a lot of JP's goals. Losing his creativity may impact JP's goal scoring abilities.

Let's focus on the cup final for now.
